The ceiling of the ancient temple rose up majestically to an awesome sight.

Rising ____________________________________________________ .

How would the sentence be phrased using "Rising" as the first word?

Many thanks.

" ... the ceiling of the ancient temple was an awesome sight".

Can the ceiling look awesome just because it is at a great height? Is 'awesome' the appropriate word?

Many thanks.

Awesome is sometimes overused these days, teenagers in American describe everything as awesome, but, in this sentence, it is appropriate.

Outstanding, stunning, remarkable would all work as well.
