They are open late.
They open late.

Are both sentences correct? If so, what is the difference in meaning?

"They are open late" means they remain open until a late part of the day. "They open late" means that they do not open until some late part of the day.

If a store doesn't close until midnight (regardless of when it opens), we can say "they are open late." If a store opens at 3:00pm (regardless of when it closes), we can say "they open late."
