I did not earn much, yet the rent for/of my room was about half of my salary.
Which preposition should I use?
Thanks in advance.
for/of
My gut feeling is that "for" is a little more common.
Maybe it's different in British English, but you could say any of these things and still be correct
The rent of my room is £150 per week
The rent on my room is £150 per week
The rent for my room is £150 per week
I pay £150 rent for my room each week
I pay £150 rent on my room each week
My room's rent is £150 per week
