"During the time she is forced to relearn the things she has forgotten, she gradually gets to know the man that saved her life."

the part that I'm having trouble with is "During the time she is forced to relearn the things she has forgotten..."

it doesn't sound right to me... any idea's what i can do to improve it?

Yla, yes it's redundant

During the time she is forced to relearn (brush up, recapitulate, rebound, reconstruct, refurbish), she gradually gets to know the man that saved her life
