Hi English Teachers,
I forgot whether I should use present perfect or present simple for the following sentence. I think the verb should be present perfect. Please guide me, thanks in advance.
Please choose the food that you have wanted/want.(when talking to a group of people)

@PUNKEY,
Same here, except I would leave it with want instead of desire.

I would suggest either of these:
Please choose the food that you want. (simple present)
Please choose the food that you have been wanting. (present perfect continuous/progressive)

Grammatically speaking, it is possible/acceptable to use the present perfect there, but it doesn't seem to me like it would be the first choice for most native speakers. Others may disagree.
