What good does religion offer the world today?

Ah, so all scripture is not inspired by the god. I knew it!

I didn't say that. The inspired men who wrote the bible were affected by their own feelings and biases and that comes out in their writing.

Remember that homosexuals can make a God of sex just like heterosexuals can. God had to pick someone out to get that point across. I guess the poor dude who wrote Dut. was the pick.

Right. In other words, scripture is not inspired by the god, but by the biased and phobic men who wrote it.

@Glennn,
Simple Negation is the most boring form of argument.

@Leadfoot,
I simply paraphrased what you had said. I'm sorry it bored you, but whose fault is that, really?

@Leadfoot,
That's not a phobic argument; it's the most logical one. You base your argument on faith and feelings. Prove your god exists?

@Leadfoot,
oh.... if you give such rational and solid reasons to support your believes you are going to bust a gut

@momoends,
When the other party resorts to mis-quoting and sinks to simple negation (saying 'you're wrong!' Or unprovable things like 'God does not exist') then 'Meh...' is the only response they deserve.

I'm not negating anything. I'm telling you that men who are influenced by their own feelings and biases cannot be said to also be inspired by the god. You want it both ways--that they were inspired by their own biases and prejudices, and at the same time, by the god.

@Glennn,
When you're not negating, you're misconstruing.

I'm saying they are inspired by God but affected by their own biases.

There is a difference.

@Leadfoot,
And I would contend that being affected by one's own prejudices and biases would necessarily disqualify one from being anything like a mouthpiece for divine communication.

You accuse others of negation while ignoring your own baseless confirmation.

@Leadfoot,
i think that´s exactly what you do: they believe there´s no deity we should venerate and we were the result of an evolution process influenced by the environment in which it happened and you say NO, you are wrong... and you resorts to unprovable things like "God exists...."
Why do you consider yourself any different from them and belittle their right to be answered politely?

Actually, the subject under discussion was the inspiration for the bible. But anyway...

If you had ever met him, I'm sure you (or anyone else) would not react to God himself this way. I hope you will someday realize that it is the jackasses parading as believers that turn you against him.

Evolution of Homo sapiens
All people today are classified as Homo sapiens. Our species of humans first began to evolve nearly 200,000 years ago in association with technologies not unlike those of the early Neandertals. It is now clear that early Homo sapiens, or modern humans, did not come after the Neandertals but were their contemporaries.
