Illegal in many cities.
Nothing's legal (if you are black) in Fergusson
Illegal, probably shouldn't be
@edgarblythe,
I read about that, it truly horrible. What do they expect homeless people to do? Disappear so they won't be vagrants?
Not sure what you are trying to say here... laws are bad? Republicans are bad for following laws? Or is it just Republicans in general are bad regardless of what they do?
@McGentrix,
I don't know if the cities who are passing no homeless on park benches and such are republican or what. It doesn't matter to me, its completely heartless.
@McGentrix,
Even though I mentioned Democrats you focus on only Republicans.

There is evidently more to the still unfolding Fergusson story than you appear willing to acknowledge. A little less preemptory judgementalism on your part might be appropriate here.
Who, in your view, is at fault for the exterminations and oppression occurring in northern Iraq at the hands of ISIS ? Do you blame Republicans for this?

Well, of course, a republican in office got us into that mess in the first place.
@georgeob1,
The thread title ought to give you a clue.
As a sometime ago park designer and a long time Democrat voter (mostly, there was one Green in there) I'm wishy washy on the park thing. Not re that photo, that person should not have been rousted.
The problem is that some parks are in super trouble because of populations of people who have few choices going to cities where the city is moderately forbearing re rousting and moderately sympathetic to the plight of the varied homeless population -------- at the same time surrounding cities and towns and cities across the land are not as "helpful" to the homeless, which is in much of the U.S.
The cities like San Francisco that try are beacons and overwhelmed, and parks for all take a hit, since many of the all are afraid. This doesn't mean that I'm for rousting, it means I don't know what to do except say get some help to the homeless.
San Francisco is an odd mess in that the common wage is now not enough now for even much of the middle class to keep living there (housing prices, many abodes turning into Airbnb zones with renters not getting leases renewed, and so on. Lots of arguing going on there about all this.
Meantime Golden Gate Park is a place many are afraid of after darkness falls, and there is rampant vandalism and the vandalism brings only Stay Away orders in the unlikely situation someone is ever caught, the vandalism being only misdemeanors.
So we have a major loved city that is increasingly for only the quite rich mixed with a well developed homeless problem.
The longterm answer is more help of more kinds for the homeless population, which is a discussion thick with questions and not great answers.
@ossobuco,
Meantime, many are leaving the city for surrounding places since even a couple with rather good salaries can have big troubles making it, and people with much smaller paying but necessary jobs have to drive forever in traffic to get to them (bart seems good there's only so many people it can handle), I foresee what-I-don't-know. I like that city, and the park is only a symptom.

No. Not directly but Bush may have had a hand in it. But I blame the U S of A military for their practice of leaving dangerous weapons lying around for the terriost organizations of the world like al Quada, and ISIS, to gather up, and who we have armed with modern weapons. Woops! There I go again with my antiamerican rants! Guess I'll have to move to a foreign country.
@edgarblythe,
What this thread shows is that there are just too many inconsistencies in how our country handles different important issues whether domestic or international. I'm not sure how many Americans are really keeping up with all these important issues or whether they even care.
We won't fund taking care of children at our borders, but will send tons of food to Iraq.
@cicerone imposter,
Its OK CI. Were treating kids at our borders better than were treating the Palistianian kids in Gaza. There, dident that make you feel better?
@RABEL222,
Is there supposed to be some comfort to that?
