1- You can order by e-mail or text and details of how and where to place your orders can be found on the back of this menu.

My friend seems to think that this sentence is incorrect. He said it must read-

2- You can order by e-mail or text. Details of how and where to place your orders can be found on the back of this menu.

Whilst I agree on splitting the sentence into two makes things clearer, I see no problem with the initial sentence.

His issue was with the word "details" after the first "and". He said that the "and" means the details relates to the first usage of the word "order" whereas I think it relates to the second usage of "order".

Any help?
Thank you in advance.

@Simonmm,
Simon, I'd have simply placed a comma after "test"

@Simonmm,
Directions should be short and clear sentences.

I think the two sentences are easier to read.

JMHO.

Your friend is mistaken. There is nothing wrong with the first sentence.

Without the comma the momentary understanding of many is, one can order by means of text and details
