Does "friend" refer to "you", or refer to "(the late) hamster"?

Context:

Error
You have just caused an error that took the life of one of the hardest working hamsters. But the good news is that we wrote down the error and will give it to our overlords so that they can figure out how to make it not happen again. Go in peace friend, we must now pour out some liquor for our fallen comrade. We miss you homeslice!

The only good hamster is a dead, lightly roasted hamster, served with Thai peanut sauce.

@oristarA,
Being a proper noun, Homeslice should be capitalized.

Using the passive, you have a meaning that I'm sure you didn't intend.

sb is referred to sb else --->

homeslice is also refers red to the hamster?

@Region Philbis,
Actually, I petitioned for a name change from roger to Roger several years ago. It remains in the lower case.

Probably you should have waited until they said:
Quote:
Loud and clear, roger.
Over, Roger.

@Walter Hinteler,
Is that a roger, Roger?
No, but it might be a vector, Victor.
