How can I get a pet kitten or cat for myself?

My father won't allow me to have any pet in the house, since he is worried that my pet might go and have babies in other houses and awaken the ire of the neighbors. How can I have pets without having to worry about this problem? Also, I am worried I might get lonely in the future and feel that a pet would help me. What should I do?

@studydreams,
Your father never heard of spaying or neutering a cat before? That's difficult to believe. Even in India.

@tsarstepan,
Thanks for the reply. My cousin has a cat, who has been neutered. However, it has grown too fat and is extremely aggressive and has even scratched my cousin and even me once, because as my cousin believes, it is the result of neutering. Also, he had been taken away from his mother when he was at a tender age to be raised by my cousin sister. So, is it possible to control such aggressive behavior in cats, if they are neutered?

@studydreams,
Neutered cats are generally less aggressive than non-neutered cats. Your cousin's cat may be aggressive, but it's probably not the result of being neutered. Some cats are just aggressive -- that's their personality. You can work to modify any aggression with behavior modification techniques, or you can just find a lazy cat.

@joefromchicago,
In this household, "lazy cat" is a major redundancy.
