Policy about what?

Of course, now that I've signed in, I'll probably drift off.

Since President Obama now has control of the House and the Senate, his policies will lean strongly towards Socialism. His policies will closely resemble the actiond taken by FDR in the early thirties. President Obama's rationale for the government's move towrds more and more power will, of course, be the "economy".

However, since he is basically interested in keeping the Democrats and himself in power( for the "good" of the people, of course), he will not hesitate to pander to the wishes of the voting masses.

It is considered criminal to "rob Peter to pay Paul" , but when there are more Pauls than Peters--income redistrbution must begin.

@genoves,
That makes him the first president to have control of both houses, then.

O boy's speech indicates that he will be more of a mainstream president.

@genoves,
I Agree, I was thinking the same exact thing.

But I also wonder about his policy on the war and what he will do in Afghanistan and our relationship with leftest South America.

@ossobuco,
about his policy on everything. I mean to say is he really who people think he is? What, I wonder, will he practice?

@genoves,
Seeing as how the most recently departed administration oversaw both a 700 billion dollar bailout of the banks and a 200 billion pumpup of the Freddy and Fannie Maes, there is hardly any action this present administration can employ that could reasonably be described as Socialist. All the Socialist actions have already been done and done for those most less likely to appreciate them.

Now that all the financial managers have had their beach homes preserved for them, it will be up to Obama to make sure they save the homes of the millions of middle-class workers. Given that the monies already in the system were spewed out without any stipulations that will be a formidable goal.

He will also create Peace in the Middle East, but that won't be done until next month.

Please define your terms so people who consider themselves mainstream thinkers can move on and leave the wings to their discussion here.

@Butrflynet,
Mainstream thinkers

people who took the government on their word that we were going to Iraq to liberate them.

People who voted for Bush (sometimes twice).

People with only one or two sources of news.

People who listen to whatever everybody else is saying and then walk around repeating it like they came up with by themselves

@Joe Nation,
Why are we wasting American lives and American resources which we need so badly in a unnecessary war in Afghanistan? It's time to take our troops out of Afghanistan. Doesn't President Obama know that the Soviets were badly beaten after years of useless struggle against the Afghanistan nation.

It's time for President Obama to show that his passion for peace is real. We cannot keep our troops in Afghanistan in a useless war!!!

The President must complete his committment to the American people who are not among the healthiest inthe world.

Socialized Medicine is the answer.It has worked so very well in Britain and Canada and it is time to give it a try in the USA.

We cannot undergo another oil crisis. For the good of the American people, it is time to Socialize some key industries. National ownership of the oil companies will prevent future price gouging. National receivership of the coal industry can be the first step to limiting the co2 which will ruin our nation eventually. The farming industry has been taken over by greedy conglomerates who do not have the well being of our people in mind.
Collectivization worked well in the Soviet Union. Review of the comments made by those in FDR's brain trust show that the Russian people were indeed being well fed.

Those are just a beginning of the Socialist moves that President Obama can make. We will see just how far left reality will enable him to go.
