Photos, Music and Video on your profile

Once there's a bit more feedback and I'm sure any bugs are worked out I'll post it to the blog, but I wanted to give you guys a heads up and let you know that you can now add music, photos and video to your profiles by providing a flickr, last.fm, or YouTube id.

If you want to see what it would look like you can see my profile.

Anyone out there want to give this a try? If you do it let us know here so we can check out your photos and music And if you don't use either service give them a try and connect them to your account.

Edit (Added video since YouTube turned out easy)

@Robert Gentel,
Pretty cool. Love the fm widget.

For Flickr, any possibility of using the smaller Flickr badge for public display of slideshow images? It is flash code.

Code and example here:

@Robert Gentel,
I'm putting the url to my fm account in my profile but it isn't sticking when I update it. Is this a problem or just because the feature isn't switched on yet?

@Butrflynet,
You need to put your username, not the whole url.

@Robert Gentel,
Have pasted this several times:

http://www.last.fm/user/butrflynet

And have also tried just putting:
butrflynet

Neither works. It remains in the input field until you click the Update button then it disappears. When I view my profile, nothing from last.FM appears.

Do we need to be logged in at last.fm for it to connect and display?

@Butrflynet,
Right now I don't want to get into a bunch of layout options, but ever since we made the flash tag, you can already put that badge in your profile if you prefer it to the slideshow.

When I write up the blog post on this stuff I'll provide code examples for that.

@Robert Gentel,
I clicked on Preferences at the bottom of the page and then clicked on the Profile tab and it resulted in this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/a2korg/public_html/account/profile/index.php on line 68

Tried it a couple times with the same result. Do I need to clear cache or is there still a fart hanging around? Wink

@Butrflynet,
If you listen to music much on your computer, make sure to download the scrobbler, and it will send your library over to last.fm as you listen to it.

Eventually we'll provide more last.fm data like favorite artists etc based off that data.

@Robert Gentel,
I don't download music, just copy tracks from purchased CDs onto my computer and play them using the itunes interface. There aren't any labels/titles or anything like that on them other than the track number and artist name.

Not sure that will be very helpful to last.fm.

@Butrflynet,
Well you can use a free program (Picard) to tag all your music if you want to, but they do need the right tags for the scrobbling to work well.

I'm putting together a test album for flickr to see how well that works. Will give you feedback when I get it finished.

@Butrflynet,
Okay, I tested it and it works as expected. I think I prefer the smaller widget so I've removed the link from my profile and will try using the widget when I have a chance to fiddle with it.

With your linked thingy, is there a way to specify a set for display rather than it scrolling through our entire photo stream?
