Ha!

Good work with the new site, by the way! Must be really cool to see people using it. And complaining about it, and stuff....

don't know about you, but I am an idiot when it comes to the obvious - give me something complicated and I have no problem.

Wait a minute RP. We used to select, say, Politics and there was a page full of threads with stickies at the top and the ones on the buzz below them. New topics were being introduced to keep up with things as they happened. And the last poster's name.

How would you find them?

Where would you see the Never Ending Conversation game now for example.

In this case Spendi you would click on the 'politics' tag in the left bar of the screen.

Here's a direct link if you want to go straight there, bookmark it -

http://able2know.org/tag/politics/

You can put your own tags on posts and threads as well, which could be useful...

not sure what you mean by 'stickies' and 'buzz'... explain.

last poster is useful, i agree... perhaps the developers will bring it back?

there are a number of ways to find a specific topic, but without the search function, none of them are simple.
- if you've already posted on a topic, you can search your posts.
- if you know someone else has posted on it, you can search their posts.
- if you know which tag (ie. forum) a topic is in, you can go to that tag and search for it.

(i'm sure there are other ways i'm not thinking of at the moment...)

Where is cross-thread fertilisation going to come from? I can't see how we are not going to end up in little cliques. The ebb and flow of a pub is missing surely.
It's alienating.

i went to the homepage, then the Trivia and Word Games tag, then sorted it by "most replied", and eventually found it on page 2 of the tag

<snickers after voting down Spendi's "alienating" comment.>

Really? I voted it back up, for I think there is a lot of truth there.

In the old format when you went to a forum the top few topics remained constant for long periods. (The stickies). Down around tenth the more active topics began with the latest post on top. (The buzzers). And new ones were joining that section all the time. With the poster's name and two statistics regarding the health of the thread.

ditto.

But, we've always had little cliques. This is just going to make them more obvious if adults act like children.

ohhhh, ok... correct me if i'm wrong --

stickies = featured
that has been replaced by tags / voting.

buzzers = new replies
you can simulate this now if you sort by New Posts.
but you can't see who posted what...

I'll bet I'm not the only one who is flummoxed. I hate to say it but I can't see it working.

It's like a horse designed by a committee. Of non-smokers.

Nobody has posted an Acronym all day as far as I can tell. That's unusual.

I thought that the previous format was the work of a genius.

I can tell by reading a few topics so far that people can edit - but I haven't seen an edit button on my own few posts so far. Someone also said there might be an editing time limit.

Perhaps I just don't see the edit button...
(I'll look again after this post.)
