Seriously though, I couldn't care less who Spielberg (or any other celebrity) endorses, especially when he starts out saying "I've taken the time to familiarize myself with the impressive field of Democratic candidates..."

Seems to me if he wants to be taken seriously he should familiarize himself with all the candidates be they democrat, republican, libertarian or whatever. But that's just me.

And in case anyone missed it earlier, Hillary sucks. Cool

I take no stock in celebrities hawking either medical or political preferences. Spielberg has one vote.....................so do I!

Amen Phoenix. Anyone who votes for someone simply because some celeb is voting for them is an idiot. Sadly, many people will and all politicians like getting those celebrity endorsements. Personally, I'd rather trust my instincts when voting rather than some ego-filled celebrity who thinks they are more knowledgable because they are famous.

Oh yeah, and Hillary sucks. (I think I already said that, but just in case I didn't)

it's a given that the republican candidates all suck and are not worthy of even a mention. Hillary Clinton is the next president. live with it.

The sentence is written in present tense-- and Republicans back then were a completely different party than modern Republicans are today (how many Republicans back then would have fought to keep the Confederate flag flying over statehouses).

That being said... I probably wouldn't have liked Lincoln much had I been alive in that time. His attitude toward slavery (by my not to deep understanding) was much like Hillary's attitude on the war and other important issues.

I would have been a fervent abolitionist and wanted the president to have comitted to strong, immediate action to end slavery.

And, I have sometimes wondered if fighting the civil war was a mistake (for the North).
