The Arboretum, not Schwarzenegger!

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/Arboretum.jpg

Anyone want to go see the man-eating plants in Boston? We (most of the Bahstin area crowd, AKA littlek, Merry Andrew, username, George, rosborne, RP and me) talked about this at the most recent Beantown gathering (a coupla days ago) and late Summer, early Autumn seemed to be the consensus.

Frisbee, Scrabble and our own dishes (potluck or bring your own, or just eat shoots and leaves from the surrounding grounds, nothing's been decided yet) and best wishes are all on the agenda. Or that could change. We're nothing if not flexible.

Here's some more info about the Arboretum, plus here are the directions. The Arboretum is accessible via trolley, bus and car.

So -- who wants to come? I expect we might end up going to a restaurant or a place which serves adult beverages afterwards, for anyone who doesn't actually want to do the nature thing. Jamaica Plain, which is where the Arboretum is located, has any number of funky cafés so I'm sure we'll have lots of choices.

I promise we won't let the plants eat you.

C'mon, let's have some fun!

Last time I looked, dogs were not discriminated against. But I can double-check that. I pass the place almost every day (or, at least, can do so if I choose to take the scenic route to work or back home.)

Dogs, I believe, are allowed - but only on-leash. Technically.

I have scrabble, will travel.

I recall my Bostonian days and obedient dogs were allowed to run freely within site of their owners. At least no one ever said anything. However, if you want t place for dogs to run free, try Lars Anderson Park just down the road from Arnolds.

Yep, the official rule is dogs-on-leash. About 1/3 of the dogs I see are off-leash.

There are free walking tours scheduled throught the summer (year?). Maybe we should plan a meeting around those. Some could walk, some could stay and play scrabble. Or, walkers could arrive early and meet the group when they're finished with the tour? Any interest out there in a sanctioned tour?

Tour or scrabble, I'll speak for RP who is still sleeping but we'd be up for either. A nonhuman gatherer would be great.
