WASHINGTON - Thu May 31

President Bush envisions a long-term U.S. troop presence in
Iraq similar to the one in
South Korea where American forces have helped keep an uneasy peace for more than 50 years, the White House said Wednesday.

The comparison was offered as the
Pentagon announced the completion of the troop buildup ordered by Bush in January. The last of about 21,500 combat troops to arrive were an Army brigade in Baghdad and a Marine unit heading into the Anbar province in western Iraq.

Aren't they all attending your cell meetings? Or am I not allowed to talk about that?

You made a quote involving Iraq and President Bush and what he envisions.
What are you saying? Do you believe this information states the truth.

You are absouletly right, i'm not thinking properly here. Laughing

I apologize and retract my statement.

Damn, Bush should know better, he could accidentally be tarred and feathered for telling lies.

What statement? You did not answer my question.
Do you believe what you quoted to be the truth?
That question has a yes or no answer.

I retracted the statement about Lee Harvey Oswald, which i had made assuming the story that i had posted in my thread titled "Bush - 'Expect 50 Years of War in Iraq'" was true. (You've now made me realise it is false)

To answer your question 'Do you believe what you quoted to be the truth?'
By 'quoted' you mean the main news story posted?

The answer is NO. It's all Bush lies.

This is absolutely a false comparison

The so-called "insurgency" (read: the Iraqi people wanting their country back) will not end until the US leaves Iraq completely and permanently.

The more logical comparison to Iraq would be that of Vietnam.

Zippo,
What I am getting at does not entirely deal with politics. It has a lot to do with quotes of misleading articles. Some people
believe everything they read and everything they see on television.

This link of the actual briefing would have been more appropriate than a partial quote from yahoo news.

TTH,
I have just read the whitehouse press briefing by Tony Snow (thanks for the link). I was a little confused earlier. You were actually right. The yahoo news article was slightly misleading. (I trusted yahoo news)

It's embarrassing, i'm sorry, i had posted this misleading article. Embarrassed

Folks TTH is absouletly right. Never believe everything you read or watch.

Thanks TTH.

Quote from the WhiteHouse:

Quote:
Q So you're not suggesting that U.S. troops would be there for over 50 years in a --

MR. SNOW: No, no, I'm not. I don't know. It is an unanswerable question, but I'm not making that suggestion.
