Who Wants To Be An Illegal Alien?

The Honorable Tom Harkin
731 Hart Senate Office Building
Phone (202) 224 3254
Washington DC, 20510

Dear Senator Harkin,

As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue
Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the
Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for
becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S.
Citizen
to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the
Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's
provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United
States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a
$2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.

I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the
process started before everyone figures it out.
Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay
taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years
of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can
apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result
for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.
Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency
room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying
premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost
$10,000 a year.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter
would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school
applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges
throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the
burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance
premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college
age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become
illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms,
I would be most appreciative.

Thank you for your assistance.
Your Loyal Constituent,

Donald Ruppert

This joke is as old as I am, and it was never funny.

The premise that being an illegal immigrant is pleasant is ridiculous.

Do you really think being without health insurance is a good thing? (I have been there and it ain't).

Of course, if you really believe this crap... you could give them citizenship... yeah that would show them.

I am sorry Bear, your post is offensively stupid (and stupidly offensive)

1. In-state tuition is a big problem with people I care about.

Of course in-state tuition is for people who live in the state. Now you can make the argument that "illegal" immigrants don't live in the state (even though there life, friends and bed are all in the state). But to say that in-state tuition will let kids go to college "throghout the US" is simply a lie.

In-state tuition will let these kids go to the state where they live just like any other kid who lives in the state. There is no advantage over any other kids.

These are kids who have grown up in the US since they were babies and they have worked hard in high school. These kids will make great citizens. Having grown up here, they are culturally American (in fact you wouldn't be able to tell them from any other kids). They speak perfect English

Having young educated workers is a benefit to the state. This is why we have in-state tuition.

The worst thing about the anti-in-state-tutition is that the kids you are targetting haven't even comitted a crime.

2. In Massachusetts, as in other places, immigrants have been subjected to raids where families are being split up and lives are being uprooted.

You may think they deserve this kind of hardship and fear (after all they are just illegals).

But, do you really want to live with this?

3. As I have already said, but I need to say this again.

You don't have to be "illegal" to be uninsured. If you want this benefit, just stop paying for your insurance and you to can go to the Emergency room.

This is, of course, stupid-- both for you and for society at large. Quality preventative medecine is the best way both to lower costs, and to provide a better standard of living.

4. Immigrants pay taxes. Many of them-- including people who are far poorer then you, are paying more taxes than you because they don't want to take the risk to get the refund they deserve.

Immigrants also pay for your social security. There are millions of dollars of unowned social security funds that you will get, even though it was paid for by people less privileged then you.

5. You can drive without a license if you want. The only difference between you and an "illegal" is that when you break the law, you don't get taken away from your family.

So if you want to drive without a license... go ahead (you will still be better off then an "illegal" since you will only be fined).

If you want to be without health insurance (and use the Emergency room as your main health care source) go ahead.

If you want to stop filing your tax return (and forfeit your refund), and if you want to give up the social security benefits you have been paying. Go ahead.

Heck, I will even blame you for any crime that happens and keep teach my kids to stay away from you (so as not to catch leprosy).

But, after you have done all of these things-- let's see you say you want to live the life of an "illegal" immigrant.

Bear
You better hurry up if you want illegal status. The republicans and bush wrote the bill as presented to congress and now the democrat majority will have a go at it.
