The Emmy Nominations

Will "Six Feet Under," the drama series with the most nominations (16) finally win this year? "The West Wing" was okay but I haven't really been able to get into its storylines -- they still feel manufactured. "The Sopranos" may come back with a win, but it's really a tough one to call.
I think "Sex in the City" is a shoo-in as best comedy and the nominated stars could also walk away with wins.

Emmy
Does drama include comedy?
Somehow, I don't think it does.
So, I will vote on this after I post my reply.
I get the idea, that this has passed into American iconography,
what I'm about to vote on.
I have never seen any of these shows, mind you,
but I believe in voting, ever chance I get.
I spellchecked this reply, since I wasn't sure of "iconography".
The only word found to be incorrect was "I'm".

LW: I gave up HBO for Showtime. Perhaps, not a wise choice, but anyway, I don't watch any of the above so I can't vote. Sad

I'm in my child rearing years, so, unfortunately I seldom have an hour to sit through episodic tv and am really out of touch with most tv except for news, and information. Hit and run stuff, and some old shows that are in syndication at off times. Getting Tivo is on my long list for things to do! I reeeeally need Tivo.

I caught the first season of The Sopranos and saw the second on DVD, and enjoyed it, but have lost track. I'm not voting because I've hear that some of the other shows are very worthy too.

I might as well join this swelling chorus of posters and amit that I, too, have not seen a single episode of any of these shows. I don't even have cable, just tune in PBS now and then and otherwise use the tube to run my VCR. Sorry.

Emmy
I receive "basic cable", which does not include any
stations like HBO,Showtime, etc.
I watch PBS,Comedy Central and C-SPAN.
C-SPAN is god's gift to man, brought to you by the Cable Industry.
Last night, I watched the actual hearings of Dr.Kelly before parliament.

HBO buried the competition in nominations. I couldn't post more than one poll but I will post the comedies nominated and a link to the Emmy page on the nominations.

I've only seen Curb and Sex in the City. My vote is for curb. That show really filled the Larry Sanders void for me.

I'm rewatching all the "Curbs" in HDTV, even though they're still doing that shrunken screen routine on the HDTV channels (not using the full potential of the resolution but cutting back on the bandwidth used). They are shaggy dog stories after all but with a real corker at the end. I get a lot of chuckles on Larry's fumbling through life and the end always makes me crack up. It could win again.

Go, You Crazy Jew! GO, LARRY!!! Who's my caucasian??? Are you my caucasian??

<voicing preference for Larry>

I tried Sex and the City, but it never really hooked me. I think the fast-paced, wry humor of Will and Grace (and that fabulously evil Karen character) are way underrated.

Well, "Will and Grace" have had a wealth of nominations and some wins (including Golden Globes). It's pretty stiff competition and I think the gay in-jokes put it down a notch with some reviewers. I don't know if Karen's misguided, woozy and snobbish character is actually evil because she always seems to be putting it on (she's acting likes she's acting which makes it even funnier). Her little running barbs about Grace's ensemble are always funny. She's just doing the best she can while dripping with dough!

...and Karen gets points about always being right about Grace's clothes and teeny breasts. I keep wanting to feed that woman.

Debra Messing--Someone force feed this bony woman a biscuit.

The Jack actor--Incredibly gifted. (I have forgotten his name...Sean something?)

Sean Hayes and he's nominated again this year.

Rent or look on cable for "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" where Hayes carries the film with real acting aplomb in a dramatic as well as comedic performance. I don't think Jack is a character that explores even half of his potential and it's great. Sure, it's a stereotype but he manages to carry it off without over drawing the character. Makes me laugh just thinking about some of his antics. Laughing
