Sen. Durbin Drops Bombshells on the Senate Floor

April 28th, 2007

Senator Dick Durbin, who was on the Senate Intelligence Committee during the lead up to the war, fills us in on what was going on behind the intel scenes in 2002-2003 and how accurately it matched up with what we were being told publicly. Unfortunately for all of us, he was sworn to secrecy back then...

So, you're concerned with the honor or legality of Durbin's actions, but not with those of the president who orchestrated the deception Durbin's pointing out?

Everything he discussed had been disclosed elsewhere in the intervening years. Nothing Durbin talked about was secret anymore.

And a lot of the information I learned while stationed on the USS Hammerhead (SSN663) can be read about in "Janes Fighting Ships".

That does not mean I can talk about it in public.

So,if revealing the launch codes for the US nuclear arsenal would possibly save lives, its ok to release it?
Even if it threatens US Security?

Also,What if whoever released Valerie Plames name decided that releasing it could save lives.
So,that makes it OK,right?

Why not? If it's public knowledge, maintaining a vow of secrecy would be a vain gesture.

mysterymoan,
the elephant in the living room that you keep walking around and ignoring is this:

Where is your indignation about the deception by the Bush administration?

Then apparently he was too stupid at that time and had no influence. therefore, he is as guilty as the rest of them.

You wanna make him a hero for his own stupidity?

Surely, mysterymind - there's just a little of that highminded angst about dishonor and dishonesty for the lies told by Bushco?

Bullsh!t. It's called protecting your political a$$ and Durbin and everyother member of Congress and Executive Branch is individually and collectively responsible for their decisions. I resent people who years after making a "bad decision" blame someone other than themselves.

Any resentment for the originators of the bad decision to go to Iraq?

I think that if they used deception to go to war, then they were wrong.
Having said that, how does that excuse Durbin for violating his oath of secrecy?

Zippo,
You never answered my question,so I will ask again...

You rightwing dingleberrys aren't going to be able to obfuscate the fact that this Iraq mess was the brainchild of Bushco. They used 9/11 to amp up fear and support for the bogus war, they cherry-picked the intel to sell it to the UN and the world, they covered up the deception until it was too late.
