J Adams 1797-1801 Federalist
G Washington 1789-1797 Federalist
And if I can take a bow, I did all that off the top of my head.
If you cannot take a bow (Dr. Lecter!), did you still deal that deck from the top of your own pate?
Urrrrrrrr. Fire bad. Urrrrrrr.
There have been 43 presidents (counting Cleveland twice) and 54 elections
Five parties (counting the Union party in the Civil war as a republican victory) have had Presidents:
Republican: 18 presidents (22 elections won)
Democrat: 14 presidents (20 elections won)
Whig: 4 presidents (2 elections won)
Democrat-Republican: 4 presidents (7 elections won)
Federalist: 2 presidents (3 elections won)
Technically, the first election had no political parties, but Washington is considered to have been a Federalist.
For a good reference on US Presidents, their party affiliation and election results Dave Leip's Presidental Election Atlas is a good tool to add to your favorites list.
