Just do this:

ANGELIQUE! Hold up! Do you see what I'm saying?

Look at your post count. Put it in your post. Press submit.

Then look at your NEW post count. Put it in your post. Press submit.

That's not so complicated, is it?

We said the same thing Soz, just different...seems that we both failed though...heh.
--------

Maybe this will help, you have to break the posts down into two pieces.

The box to the left of our messages contains our specific profiles, this goes along with us, and updates itself with every post made. We can also alter most of the info contained within...name, avatar, post count/title{done automatically}, location.

Then there is the actual post, once it's submitted it is no longer tied to us, it is now a part of the thread in which it resides.

I'll give it a try.

The number is not the number of the post. It is the total number of posts you have made. Therefore, it will say the same thing for every post you have made. It doesn't matter whether it's the first post or the most recent post. It shows ONLY THE TOTAL of all posts.

The number shown is NOT CONSECUTIVE. It's cumulative. ONLY THE TOTAL.

But good only if she understands.

AE--

There are not:

One little, two little, three little Indiians
Four little, five little, six little Indians
Seven little, eight little, nine little Indians

There are only ten little Indians (or whatever your post total is)

Numbering each post would serve no purpose.

Showing the total number of posts gives a reader an estimate of how active that member is on the site.

Roberta, brava!

I don't understand not understanding this particular matter. But... the helpful computer tricks thread, another story.

There may be a background to the not understanding, as a lot of people who post at a2k think achieving great numbers of posts is valuable in some way and start to think of it as, now I have 3300!!!! Whereas some of our keenest post seldom but impeccably. Not referring to myself, who is representative of the other bunch.

Angelique, go click on your profile button at the bottom any of your posts. At the left of the page, it'll say See All Posts by Angelique East - click on that. They will show up in reverse order....
If you click on that one at the very end, your very first post, by clicking on the name of the thread in small highlighted print right over the quote from the post.... you'll see a total there by your name, something like 3622, whatever.

The number there is ALWAYS the total, whatever post it shows up on, give or take some very occasional a2k spit up.

By the way, I would like to recommend page 4 of this thread for anyone who wants a good laugh, courtesy of Soz and Angelique. That was a great bit.

We're all carpetted by trivia players, not that I don't engage there myself on occasion. Even our dlowan , schniff, is having her achieved crown galloped past, not that she ever valued numbers. Gallopped, no, galloped. Both look wrong.

Still, I admire people like laeknir skrat, and several others with contemplated posts and low numbers.

Maybe we could remember who some of those posters are...

I don't understand the importance of post counts. I never even noticed it
until someone pointed it out to me. It does not tell me anything about a person. It is just a number. I guess I just don't get it.

If this were the case, I don't think we'd ever get people in positive numbers....
