[answered] Points for posting

I have posted several posts in different groups, and have not received points for them. The posts counter seems to be stuck in the same number. Why is that?

Thanks

Can you post another one here?

I see that you currently have 3602 posts. When you make another post, the post count should be 3603.

When I posted in history, and other groups it was not counting.

I don't know what you mean by "not counting"...?

At any rate, you posted three more times and your post count is up by three (now it's 3605, from 3602), so seems to be working right now...

So it would seem from the double post, which mysteriously, cannot be deleted.

That doesn't seem to make sense, Roger, although, of course, you may neither edit nor delete a post which has been followed by another post.

We get points for posting? Hell, if those points were green stamps, i'd go out and get a new car.

I see the same thing as Roger. 3605 on three posts in a row. The counter isn't counting.

Yes it does work. All posts will show the latest number. Should AE write
another post, it will come up as 3606, and remain that number until
another post is written.

The number of posts a member has made is "kept track of" in the file which contains the member profile. When a member posts a new post, that number increases. The member information which is shown next to the post "obtains" the number of posts from that file. So, when you increase the number of posts, the number changes on all pages on which the members name appears. The system is not trying to number your posts. I had 37393 posts before i made this one. They are not numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. until you get to this post, #37940--all my posts will now show 37,940 posts made, and that number will change as soon as i've made a new post.

Alfright--at that point, every one of the 37,940 posts i had made have, on the left side, member information about me which included: "Posts: 37940." Now, all of them will show 37,941.

Gotcha. The only way to know if there's a problem is to see how many posts AE had before the most recent one was posted.

That's what I was referring to... when I saw the first post here (the one that started this thread), AE's "counter" was at 3202 posts. She then made three more, and her counter is now at 3205 posts. Seems fine.
