Heliotrope--

I actually am pretty sure I'd die of a heart attack if I threw myself off of something. That is cool. Do you bungee off bridges, or hit water? What is your highest height (not planes)?

Does your career utilize your astronomical IQ? Are you proportionately recompensed? (Inquiring minds, a terrible thing to waste.)

I have become ill because of an argument with a lover. Could you describe your pain due to love?

These are neat, Heliotrope.

Yeah, heliotrope. Ver-r-r-ry interesting. Do you use a chute or one on them Inspector Gadget thing-a-ma-somethings? I'm one in twenty million going the other direction.

Helio, The closest thing I've come to bungee jumping is when I rode the London Eye last March. Smile c.i.

ehBeth, I am indeed the Dave The Drummer on my link. I also run the Realscenes Recording business. I'm Dave The Drummer on www.hotdrum.net too and on pretty much every other drum website I'm a member of.

Sofia, beautiful name by the way, I bungee of bridges and pipes and once from a helicopter. 1000 feet straight down ! Awesome.
I've had bungees arranged so I get dipped before, in New Zealand at Taupo and Skipper's Canyon (dangerous to dip there as the water is so shallow). Planes, it's about 14,000 feet, freefalling for about 8000 before you pull your chute. I'm not massively experienced having only done it 12 times but I love the feeling. The first time I went out of the plane was on a tandem jump and I had a total sensory overload. I saw the ground tilt up and then I just saw a blank white view for about 3-4 seconds and hung limp in the harness until my brain had calmed down and I could see the ground again and control my limbs. Amazing experience.
I am not receiving remuneration for my IQ and I have to say I probably wouldn't deserve it if I did. I'm far too lazy for my own good Sad I've never made an issue of it as basically all it means is that I'm good at IQ tests. But it is unusual. I'm an electronic engineer by trade and before and after Uni I've educated myself.
I fall in love very deeply. It takes a long time and I mean years really before it creeps up on me and smashes me in the face with a hammer. But when it does I go down like a sack of falling potatoes.
Basically, I'm a very intimate and intense person. I can't bear to be away from the one I love ( no one at the moment...) I start to feel a bit sick and have constant butterflies in my stomach. If it's a particularly intense day I get a headache and then that spreads to my neck and back because I'm so tense.
When I'm not with anyone I'm fine, I'm not yearning or anything, I'm actually fairly happy on my own. I do prefer to be with someone who feels the same though.

Edgar, always use chutes for foolishly leaping out of planes but with the bungee you're only connected to the bridge etc.. by the elastic rope. Free falling from the helicopter was the most amazing experience. Did it over Fox Glacier in New Zealand.

Thanks guys, it's great to share this.

let's see what i can come up with: 1) stopped in front of the pentagon and asked my wife to ask the smart looking soldier how to get to our hotel -turned out he was A VERY FRIENDLY GENERAL who was being saluted by everyone ... and it was 25 years ago! . 2)crashed a party at the texas governor's mansion in austin and were received very well ... that was in 1979 3) managed to start swimming at age 55 - without lessons; teachers in highschool told me i was a leaden duck and would never swim 4)can't survive a cruise without seasick-pills but LOVE going on cruises 5)didn't care much about dogs until ebeth got bailey(and also cleo); now i let them sleep in our bed and accept being pushed to the edge overnight; neighbour's dog (A BIG ONE) regularly visits to get cuddled and wait for treats. NOW ISN"T THAT EXCITING ? took me all of three minutes to come up with - and it shows, doesn't it? i'll try to come up with something a little more exciting. hbg

I understand hamburger about swimming. Although I learned how in early childhood, there is someting about my body that it does not want to float. I have to work much too hard and have never been able to float on my back. One time I swam the Nueces river. On the return I just about drowned.

I must say these are fascinating posts, makes for fantastic reading and re-reading. In light of all your very courageous adventures, I do feel like a bit of a wuss because I would never have the kind of courage you all have.

Edgarblythe, Sofia is right, you should write a book! You must have had quite an interesting time on the road, meeting all those truckers and listening to country music.

It amazes me to hear stories like yours, because we forget hour unafraid we were when we were young. What happens to that?

And, Helio, you are truly one of the most daring people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Sofia, I would be right there with you, having a heart attack too:)

Hamburger, you were very brave also, to crash a party like that. I've heard if you look like you know what you're doing, and smile at everyone, you've got it made, nobody will challenge you. Is that true?

You are quite an interesting and fascinating group of people!

I have an autobiographical novel on the side I work at from time to time, when not working on more pressing matters.

What a great thread...and only from reading through it was I able to come up with a few things perhaps you might find interesting/surprising..heck if I know Smile

1. I went deaf as a child, since it was after I learned how to talk I was able to buffalo everyone with lip reading and some seriously strange sensitivities to air movements that they arent sure how long I was deaf. The testing had to be done at specialized arenas since I was so good at it. Eventually, I went through some operations and have almost all my hearing restored. This was all before entering the 1st grade.

2. I was voted class heartbreaker. Mostly for dating a football player Im sure.

3. College had me in super over achieving mode- on the Deans List, Student Hostess, Student Representative, House Council, and nominated for the Presidents Award upon graduation. I refused to even further the PAward after nomination because I wasnt interested in having yet another thing to list-Mom was dissappointed but, she got over it...I had no idea they would tell her.

4. I have built the only hi pro engine to not blow up out of one shop of guys that have rebuilt engines for years, the more they tried the harder it wouldnt fall. With all that engine stuff you just gotta keep going and doing more-I have raced street stock and even brought home a trophy--the time I hit the wall. I was about to go for my drag racing license (NHRA) when I chickened out.

5. I have not been arrested..but, probably should have at some point. I have however had shotguns pointed at me by a gaggle of cops for the idiot I was with.

Helio, Go early in the morning when the crowds are still 'thinking' about it. Each car holds up to 35 people, but on the morning when I went, we had only five in our capsule. Being able to move around provided great photo opporunities. When crowded, you won't have that advantage. c.i.
