Okay, I'll start it off.

The things I list here are not unusual, but they surprised the hell out of me.

1. I took flying lessons and soloed twice.

2. I love oil painting and my own walls are decorated with my work.

3. For 10 years of my life I got to live "lifestyles of the rich and not-so-famous."

4. I have three beautiful grandchildren.

5. I was a cat hater all my life, until a little over a year ago ... now I have two and don't know how I lived without them!

This oughtta be fun.

1. If you had told me three years ago that I would be a computer geek, I would have laughed hysterically.

2. I'm anal-retentive. Embarrassed

3. I never, ever thought I would like myself.....until now.

4. I really don't give a hoot what anyone thinks about me. To each his own.

5. Even though I'm a Mom, and I love my son endlessly, I don't like being around kids. Even though the little things are attracted to me for some strange reason.

Off the top of my head ========

#1 I am a rampant serial garden weed killer and once killed
a new and expensive rose bush. I am now banished from proper garden plants

#2 I used to carry my then newly born daughter around the house in baby sling and tell her what the pictures were hanging on the wall

#3 Going to meet a client one morning, I drove away from home wearing my Sunday best suit and a pair of battered slippers

#4 I regularly talk to animals I see and explained the rules of the game of cricket very carefully to my dog and he listened to every word

#5 My daughter, now 22, thinks I'm mad

1. I had a chance to attend a Japanese Drumming seminar that was hosted by a man who has performed at Carnegie Hall.

2. I saw Steve McNair(QB of the Tenessee Titans) play a college football game.

3. I got to attend a tea in 1996 for the eventual governor of NH.

4. I have rock climbed and gone white-water rafting

5. I met Jim Tressel (Coach at Ohio State)

I haven't done anything dramatic but I'll play anyway...

1 I have 2 beautiful daughters and I'm really proud of them.

2 I did a Fine Art degree as a mature student - and won a purchase prize at my degree show.

3 I am now showing my work in various galleries and doing ok.

4 I went to school/lived in Gibraltar, Cornwall, Suffolk, Norfolk, Moray (Scotland) and Malta.

5 Family tradition has it that we are related to the artist Turner (my maiden name) - I have VERY carefully not researched this in order to keep my illusions!

Ah, this is SO interesting Misti-

(and not too revealing)

1. I took a VERY long walk before I was even a teen-ager. Took me hours, and my Mother already had folks looking for me when I came dragging home. (about 15 miles and about 5 hours)

2. Slept with the new kitten our family JUST GOT, and smothered it to death. ( I almost never got over the shock and guilt trip, even though I was just a kid and meant well. I was keeping her warm.)

3. Climbed the sheer side of a mountain once. And if it weren't for a really BRAVE guy, I would have had to have a helicopter rescue.
(hanging there between heaven and earth by my fingertips, I saw my life for real)

4. When I went for my learners license to drive, I ran a through stop sign , almost hit someone, and could not parallel park at all, but the Tester was so taken with me,
he gave me a Driving license-- (I was old enough).

5. Was carried out by a TIDE in the ocean, once- and had to be rescued.
(I still like to play in the ocean, however.)

Well, here goes the bragging:
1. I graduated from college and earned a B.S. degree in Accounting even though I barely graduated from high school (even my siblings are surprised.)
2. I have friends all around the world.
3. I have traveled to over 75 countries. Been to the highest place in the world (flew to Mt Everest), the lowest place in the world (the Dead Sea), and the southern-most city of the world (Ushuaia).
4. I was given credit by a writer in her novel, The Samurai and the Tea.
5. I'm still alive.

Went to a dinner party at which a hen snored (loudly) under the table. At that dinner, sheep's eyeballs were served.

I put a friend into deep hypnosis on a bench in Central Park and then couldn't snap her out of it.

Charles Lindbergh tried to teach me how to water-ski. Wasn't his fault that he failed.

I'm synesthetic.

Also wandered from home as a little kid (7? 8?), like Jackie but not as athletic. I'd steal a handful of change off my father's desk and ride local buses to the very end of the line, out in the country.

I'll play...

1. When I was very young I used to go for walks too. The police regularily brought me back home in the squad car. My parents tried everything to keep me in the yard including chicken wire but I escaped anyway. I was a traveller, I guess, from the age of two up.

2. I'm the shortest person in my family, even mom has a few inches on me.

3. I sing, and I can mimic most of the greats - Lady Day, Ella, Aretha, ect. but I'm terrible with lyrics.

4. I have a brilliant memory when it comes to trivia, mostly useless.

5. I went hiking in the rockies for 14 days, when I was 8 months pregnant. I had never hiked (long distance) before. When I finished my excursion, I thought I was going to die. My feet swelled up and doctors told me I was toxic. So no more hiking for me, at least when shaped like balloon.

Thanks,
Ceili

Ceili -- I hope you've seen the film "Little Voice" not so much for the film itself but for Jane Horrocks' performance -- mimicking the greats!

I've always been a ****-disturber....some examples from when I was much younger:

1. As a young kid (around 8-10 I think), I was visiting with my grandfather, and had to use the public washroom. I stepped up to the urinal, took a gander at the adult willie beside me and yelled out "Big deal"!

2. Around the same age, I once leaned out the car window to yell at a disabled person in an electric wheelchair crossing the street: "Don't you know those things don't belong on the road?" to the absolute horror of my parents.

3. On the positive side...I was tapped for the revival of "Quiz Kids" in the early 80's....had my pic in the TV guide and all...also freaked me out last night after seeing 'Magnolia.'

4. I once channeled the spirit of a friend's dead girlfriend, or so it seemed at the time. I am still not quite sure about that night...and what happened.

5. I used to give reknowned Canadian chef Jamie Kennedy guitar lessons. In return, he taught me how to cook when I was just green in the field.

I cannot carry a tune, have no pitch at all much less perfect, used to sing funeral Masses.

Have bowled nine strikes in a row. Loused up trying to reach ten.
It was all a fluke, new bowling alley. I am sure they repaired something after I was there.

Hit a hole in one in golf once...on a pitch and putt course (Rancho Park). Well, it was a hole in one if you don't count when I swung and missed the ball.

I used to make many homemade panettones to give as gifts, that was a three day deal to do four...and I got over it.

I have installed my own automatic irrigation system, once. Now am thinking about doing it again in a new place. Meanwhile, I hand water.

Rae, I can remember trying to get you interested in computers, and how you stated you would NEVER change your mind!

Times change, huh?

Viv, I think you've got quite a list of accomplishments, and also I think Mr. Turner would be thrilled to know you are his relative:)

Jackie:

Your poor mom must have been frantic!

I hope you're joking about the kitten, poor baby!

I've never had the courage to go mountain climbing, but that doesn't mean I may never try it! I admire people who do it, I think they're very brave.

You've had a few near misses girl, take it easy, ok?

Wish I could travel as you do, and if it weren't for computers I wouldn't have half the friends I have now!
