well Dag, I built a house, actually the outline of a house with mesquite branchs and rocks. It was pis-poor planning and I will never be a Frank Lloyd Wright.

anyway, I built this house out in the middle of my mother's driveway and she came whizzing of the house jumped on her motorcycle and ran over Shirley and Pooh Bear. Pooh Bear being soft and flexible survived, but Shirley got her head crushed. I buried her in the backyard next to my rabbit Sniffles.

I did not date until age 27.

I have a degree in Scholastic Philosophy, but work as a Software
Engineer.

Despite being a city boy from East Boston, I took over as horsemanship
counsellor at a summer camp. All horses and campers survived.

I translate English to Latin (or Latin to English) for fun.

I flew completely around the world on a business trip.

George! #1 is quite an eye catcher. Any particular reason?

Scholastic Philosophy sounds cool. What institution?

<very jealous about the Latin>

George--

Were you considering the priesthood, or waiting for marriage, or something else? Anyway, formidable self-discipline.

I imagine your first partner received incredibly attentive affections. Smile

What were your most memorable sights in your travels? (It must be wonderful to see so many different places.)

They were all memorable,
things that stand out were..
1) women shaving their legs and armpits in the womens toilet handbasins in Bangkok airport which prevented me from washing my hands

2) Buenos Aires and how the water in the loo went right up to the rim almost, but beautiful sailing boats which looked like big floating baskets and friendly people and copious amounts of cigars

3) The Giants Causeway in Ireland..the rock formations were amazing!
hanging upside down to kiss the Blarney stone in Cork, then my irish mate tells me it gets urinated on by the locals...yuck
The Ring of Kerry was just beautiful wonderful country side

4) Having a ciggy under a tree in Drumnadrochit looking at a paper mache
Loch Ness Monster in the middle of a pond, then found out my friend stood in the same place 2 years earlier having her ciggy! Kilt making-Whisky sampling-castles, castles and more castles..

5) Harrods in London-got told off because I had my back pack on instead of carrying it around by hand.

There's so many attractions and things and other countries that I could go on and on but these are only a minor fraction of what Ive experienced. I love to people watch in other countries and what they do in their day to day lives....very interresting.

George--

I hope one day you can share a narrative thread, describing your experiences. I've never known anyone who has made that choice, and I would really value the opportunity to hear your insights.

Kiwi--

My sister and I were just talking about saving up to go to the Emerald Isle. The castles and the rough coastline have always been appealing to me. Did you get to many Pubs?

Can't imagine shaving in public sinks.... Must have been a sight. Do you have some posts in other threads about your travels? Love to read them. I can't figure out why wearing a backpack is a no-no. I watched a documentary about Harrod's a long time ago. It's like a city. Was it incredible, or overhyped, in your opinion?

LOL Pubs yes lots of them of course if you can go to the out of the way country pubs, the people are characters.......you will love it, Belfast was amazing with all the murals painted on the end of all the rows of houses.
No I dont have any other posts in the travel threads, I just havent been asked before.

Harrods is a must see, especially the sweets area, you can easily go back to your childhood days looking at all the fudges etc.....very, very expensive store, did you know there is a Harrods in Buenos Aires!

I know it's a great imposition, but would you consider a thread of your travels? This is too good not to share. I love travel narratives, and yours already have me very interested.

Do you think you might go through each one deliciously slowly and descriptively? It may take months, but I'd be excited, waiting for each new entry.

<wide eyed with anticipation>

Well, the thing was, there was a lady at the door that checked for "membership cards" I explained I was a yank, not a "member" and she charged me £2 (about $3.20) just to go in, then I pay up and go in, take a wiz and some dude at the washup hands me a towel and wants another £1. "excuse me!" I says. My blue-haired brother and I were personally escorted to the front door.
