Rather than trying to define what is is, GWBush's famous line is gonna be "that's all in the past" or "that's a dead issue." c.i.
Yo talk about ultimate spin;
Rice said Bush's claim was a small component of his case against Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).
"It is ludicrous to suggest that the president of the United States went to war on the question of whether Saddam Hussein sought uranium from Africa," Rice said. "This was a part of a very broad case that the president laid out in the State of the Union and other places.
"But the statement that he made was indeed accurate. The British government did say that. Not only was the statement accurate, there were statements of this kind in the National Intelligence Estimate," a classified document compiled by U.S. agencies, she said.
In the speech, Bush said: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, echoing Rice in an appearance on ABC's "This Week," said the statement was "technically correct" because Bush noted the source of the claim was Britain.
so i take it that its still valid if someone else said it and it does not matter if its accurate or true.......
Stephanopholous (sp?) interviewed Rumsfeld this morning, and Rumsfeld did not come off well. Step..was very well prepared, with statements that had been made, etc. (which had been blown up and mounted, so that the audience could see what had been said by whom, and when), and, of course, he had served in the Wh, so he could not be accused of knowing nothing aout how the WH operates. Rumsfeld was constantly on the defensive, and kept back-tracking. Also - the Bush baies seem to have developed a generic tic-smile. The do not smile, but the mouth draws back from the teeth. And then they look around. I've noticed Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, Perle doing this.
