I read recently in the news that pet food was contaminated leading to the death of at least 16 animal.

It has been further reported that the chemical melamine may be responsible. Melamine is used to make plastic cutlery.

My question is, if a person microwaves food in a plastic container that is not microwave safe, might he or she ingest the same substance and suffer health consequences?

Or what are the health consequences of microwaving food in non-microwave safe containers?
