Reality will always screw ya, Bear. Blair is on his way out--he's said so, although he hasn't set a date. He's worried about his "legacy," which is why they've made such a big deal about the power-sharing agreement in Northern Ireland. I agree with what you say we should do with the Persians. In fact, though, it should have been done right away. Several questions also arise--the main one being, why didn't these jokers put up some kind of fight.

And that is where reality bites ya in the ass. Very likely, shooting at the Persians was against the rules of engagement which the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines are required to observe. Blair now has a very unpopular war on his hands--it was never particularly popular in England to begin with, but things have gone from bad to worse since the very beginning of the war. If the allies reacted as you suggest--and once again, i consider that sensible--the captive sailors and marines are going to be the first ones to suffer, right after the Persian sailors who get killed. Blair does not want to be seen to have been responsible for the deaths of those captives, even if it were unreasonable to blame him. They're not going to react with military force, because the English don't want the war to expand, and in fact, want to get out of it.
