Dan, nice artwork.
Glad your moms looking forward to assisted living! Good thoughts.
Suggestion: Have you all tried sewing quilts? Wonderful patterns to choose from, or chronical special events of your travels or family gatherings. A wonderful keepsake to pass along to the grandkids.
Merry, your're right! Sunday is one of the busiest days at the store. During the afternoon hours though - there's a steady stream of shoppers till late in the evening - and that's daily! Super busy store.
Walter, a coworker and i were April fooled by one of the store managers. In return - i smacked her, and my co worker choked her. So much for that...
ul and eBeth, i hadn't attended the concert, but after reading your reviews, will check it out...
Have a good evening all ~

Thank you all - - - for your votes of favor. Patti is such a talent and being self taught, I think she is just wonderful - and getting better with each piece. I will in the future show a few things if you would like ?
Here are two recent things =
Patti's 'Garden in the Rain'.....
My Iris =

I at the last placed a tiny bug on the flower toward the center.

I finished the piece later.
Oh, Stradee, my Mom is a Charter Member of the local Quilting Club which meets in the old school house where I spent 3d to 8th grades. Then we students transferred to Atlanta to finish our scholastics.
My Mom has made thousands of quilts and while hospital bound is concerned that some tops she is pieceing together should be sent to the club for finishing. We have quilts that were made by GGgrandparents.
Some are very interesting - most are average designs.
Beautiful.
I would like to see more.
Easter skiing- my son sent this photo. I am not tempted to join him.
Great colors, Dan! Patties 'rain' excellent too!
You guys have talent!
Ah, yep - might have known your mom sewed quilts! Sounds like you all have an extensive collection to share with the grandkids.
After seeing yours and Patti's artwork, i have no more suggestions except saying....keep painting! Good job!
ul, that's a terrific picture your son took! Now i miss winter again!
Today the weathers warm, but can't water or pot plants today. Seems the water tower cleaning has a glitch. The back-up water system, and god knows why, is also down for repairs and my question is - WHY!
silence from the powers that be
Wow wow and wow.
What great artists we have in our clan!

I have clicked today - but, it has not been a good day. My Mom passed away at 2AM this morning.
Danon, I'm very sorry to hear that.
Will you tell us more about your mother, her quilts, her family, and her life later?
Very sad.
Sending our sincere condolences and prayers for you and yours, Dan.
Dan, very sad news.
Sending our sincere condolences.
My very sincere sympathy, Dan. I know how that feels. You are not alone.
MOTHER
The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is
this the long way?" she asked. And the guide said: "Yes, and the way is hard.
And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But
the end will be better than the beginning."
But the young mother was happy, and she would not
believe that anything could be better than these years. So she
played with her children, and gathered flowers for
them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and
the sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,
"Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."
Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was
dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother
drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said,
"Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come."
And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and
the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary.
But at all times she said to the children," A little patience and we are there."
So the children climbed, and when they reached the top
they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you."
And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up
at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my
children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage.
Today, I 've given them strength."
And the next day came strange clouds which darkened
the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped
and stumbled, and the mother said: "Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.
" And the children looked and saw above the clouds
an everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the
darkness. And that night the Mother said,
"This is the best day of all, for
I have shown my children God."
And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and
the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent.
But her children were tall and strong, and walked with
courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her,
for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,
and beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung
wide mother said, "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end
is better than the beginning, for my children can
walk alone, and their children after them."
And the children said, "You will always walk with us,
Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."
And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates
closed after her. And they said: "We cannot see her
but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She
is a living presence......."
Your Mother is always with you.... She's the whisper
of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of clean
in your freshly laundered clothes; she's the cool hand
on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives
inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop.
She's the place you came from, your first home; and
she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love
and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can
separate you.
Not time, not space... not even death...
I'm very sorry to hear that, Dan. My sincerest condolences!
I thank you each for your kind sentiments.
During the preparations at the funeral directors office - the lady asking for details - asked if there were any special things we wished to say - - - small things from the past were mentioned by my brothers and my sister - then, I said, "This morning as I awakened, I saw the most beautiful lady standing in front of me - she was about ten feet tall and dressed in white." It was a vision of when I was about age four taking a picture of my mother dressed in a white dress during the late forties. I must find that photo. Or, try. She was a beautiful lady.
Danon, thinking of you and your family today.

A tall beautiful woman in a white dress, seen as waking from a dream .... sounds like the opening of a film.
You have no idea how special she was.
The man she married - - - the life she adopted with him.
Surprising, to say the least.
There were engines running right and left of our home all the time that were coursing steam through their veins - - - They were as alive as we.
The railroad was where I was born.
Talk about it, Dan. We're here to listen.
Thanks Merry Andrew, I will try to do that a bit later.

I'd very much like to hear more - whenever you're ready.
