Thanks, Phoenix. I did in fact remember all the words, but it's great to sing along together.

I like Cheers too.
How about The Littlest Hobo, and the 70's version of Hucklebrry Finn/Tom Sawyer with the opening credits of a steam boat going down a river.

I can't ever listen to "Funeral March of a Marionette" without thinking of Alfred Hitchcock. Ditto the William Tell Overture, and the Lone Ranger. (Also the Lone Ranger, and Liszt's Les Preludes, but that was not the theme song, but music that they played during the show).

If I REALLY want to go back a ways, before TV, how about Rouet d'Omphale and "The Shadow"?

Yes! The Lone Ranger! I was once listening to the William Tell Overture. My father came galloping into my room and shouted Hi Ho Silver! Completely forgot that. Thanks, kid.

Don't know from the Shadow, though. Sorry.

The Cisco Kid radio program sometimes played the theme song at the end of the broadcast for what seemed like several minutes. It was an organ piece that quickly became irritating.

I don't remember listening to the radio (except to music). I do remember my mother listening to soap operas, which bored me silly (they still do). And I remember hearing some organ music daily from one of them. Didn't make an impression though.

We got a TV when I was about 4. TV I remember.

I was fourteen by the time I quit hearing radio shows.

Back to TV, I had a great fondness for western themes. Bat Masterson, Cheyenne, Bonanza, Wyatt Earp, Lawman, Maverick.

Didn't care much for Alfred Hitchcock's music.

I woke up this morning with "Inspector Gadget" going through my head for not particular reason.

The cartoon series version. Not sure if they changed it for the movie.

How could this thread be four pages long without a mention of The Andy Griffith Show themesong?

I must have missed it.

You didn't miss it, Gus. You're the first. But I thought about it. Does that count? I didn't think so.

OK, my fav from childhood was the theme from Gigantor.

It had a calypso beat...let's all sing along.

Gigantor the Space Age Robot,

Bigger than BIG
Taller than TALL
Swifter than SWIFT
Stronger than STRONG

READY TO FIGHT FOR RIGHT........against wrong.

Gigantor.......Gigantor....Gigaaaaaaa....aaaantorrrrrr.....

A generation gap is revealing itself on this thread. I've never seen some of the shows Sozobe has mentioned. And I never heard of, let alone seen, Gigantor.

On the other hand, how many of you youths remember Ding Dong School? No theme song involved. But a show from my childhood.

And then, of course, there are personal preferences. There are plenty of current shows that people have mentioned that I don't watch them, so I don't know what the theme songs sound like. Edgar provided a wonderful link (on page 2?) to catch up on theme songs.

Scrubs - "I can't do it all on my own...I'm no superman."

And wow! there really is a generation gap showing on this thread! why all the mention of the old old shows? There's a lot of good newer stuff on tv nowadays!
