Some of those questions weren't so simple. Seriously! For instance, with all that money on the line, they ask what the biggest species of Bear is. Yeah, in fifth grade I might have known that, but who the hell keeps a tiny little insignificant piece of info like that all through their life if they aren't a goddammed zookeeper! I would have guessed correctly, but with the extra pressure that isn't so easy a question.

And what about, "Which constellation contains the big dipper?" That's information that is long gone from my memory banks.

I still haven't seen the show but some people know certain things and some do not. I do not know the constellation and big dipper question however I do
know the bear question. Some people only retain what they want or they just do.

Does Chai seriously not know the name of the show? I can't tell if she's just f---ing with us and trying to make us look dumber than a fifth-grader.

No, this time I'm serious paisano.

Is that the name of the show "are you smarter than a 5th grader"?

I don't know a thing about it, what when where is it on?
Is it on every night or something?

It has been on 2 or 3 times a week following American Idol on the regular Fox channel - not the Fox cable news channel, but the free one. So if you're not an American Idol fan, it is understandable that you wouldn't have heard about it.

No offense I don't think the question why polar bears don't eat peguins is
so obvious. I only know because I asked a lot of people that same question
just to inform them if they did not know. Nobody I asked got it right. The commercial on TV even shows them together. So people are misled by what they see on tv. I don't know all the holidays either (at least what date they are on).

Sad, but true. People are being educated by commercials instead of teachers (l think it was a CocaCola ad that had polar bears and penguins playing together). You would think watching a movie like "March of the Penguins" would set them straight. I guess a lot more people see a Coke commercial than a movie or paid attention to the textbook chapter on Antarctica.

Green Witch it was the coke commercial. People seem to be misled by tv.
All the realities shows are getting old too because it is not reality.
I rather go ask my parents who lived through the times when I have a question of history. They kept certain books around and I find it interesting.
You can learn a lot from your elders if you want. It is sad that kids don't take advantage of this while they can if they can.

Splenda is a no calorie sugar substitute. Diet coke. I'm a riot, right?

I'm just finishing off a bottle of "Fat Bastard" Shiraz. Good ****. Next a Columbia Valley Cabernet. Maybe I'll get drunk enough to get to sleep through squinney's snoring.

I'll be joining you in a drink in a minute. I think I'm going to pour myself a little bittie Ketel One on the rocks. Should we have a toast or something?

That was beautiful, BPB. There's a tear in my eye. In fact, you've inspired me. I think I might try to pick up some drunken bar slut later.

Getting back to the game show: When that one dude was given the question "What's the geometrical meaning of the central extension of the algebra of diffeomorphisms of the circle?" and he actually had to think about it, I rolled my eyes and turned off the tv.

Where do they find these idiots?
