Good luck with it, that's awesome. I hate playing cards, I can't sit at a table for hours on end.

I noticed this was in "sports & fitness." Do you think poker is a sport?

This from the man who nominated David Wells and John Kruk
as "Greatest Sportsmen"!

...but I don't think poker is a sport, either...

You've got to be a sport to play.

That counts.

good luck and knock 'em dead!

Nah, it's too damn hot here for sweatshirts and the shades are a pain (plus you can't use your eyes to give off false reverse tells).

Craven, I have heard -from a good, albeit subjective source- of your great capacity as a poker player.

Now I'm curious, who?

No more than I think chess is, and that's in the sports pages. I think it's a game, but these days "sport" seems to be a synonym for "competition" or even just "people doing stuff".

Of course... I wouldn't have decided to make a living this way if it weren't incredibly improbable that I wouldn't.

Glad to hear it's going well, Craven!

Unless something goes wrong; I'll probably be visiting Chepe in the next few months and relocating to Escazu in about six.

Tell me; have you found Costa Rica to be a hell of a lot safer than Brazil? Or, are you still getting robbed on a regular basis? I'd love to hear your comparative thoughts now that you've experienced both.

Just wondered if all was going to plan.

I was robbed a very disproportionate number of times in Brazil because I was criss-crossing the city all day in public transportation and on foot. And I also must have been unlucky because others doing the same weren't robbed as much as I was.

In any case, I've not been robbed here at all, and though I take the usual precautions (e.g. I don't count my bankroll outside on the street or somesuch) I don't worry about much.

Actually, I have two sources. One is a swift remark by a friend of yours who is always hungry. The other is a guy named Robert who said the waitress at our bar looked a lot like Sandra Bullock.
