Condi to Replace Cheney as VP?

Reply Thu 11 Jan, 2007 09:39 am
This is just a theory I am hearing on the blogs:

Negraponte will replace Condi at State---that's why he was promoted to the number two position there---Cheney will resign and Condi will be nominated to VP, thus giving her an inside track to the presidency in 2008.

Heck, we could go a step further, Bush late in 2007, citing his complete inability to stabilize Iraq and facing mounting inquiries into his criminal activity will resign and Condi will run as an incumbent.

BTW I think Condi is hot, I would do her in a heartbeat but I would never vote for her.

Sparked by today's Washington Post story that suggests Vice President Cheney's office is involved in the Plame-CIA spy link investigation, government officials and advisers passed around rumors that the vice president might step aside and that President Bush would elevate Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

"It's certainly an interesting but I still think highly doubtful scenario," said a Bush insider. "And if that should happen," added the official, "there will undoubtedly be those who believe the whole thing was orchestrated - another brilliant Machiavellian move by the VP."

Said another Bush associate of the rumor, "Yes. This is not good." The rumor spread so fast that some Republicans by late morning were already drawing up reasons why Rice couldn't get the job or run for president in 2008.

"Isn't she pro-choice?" asked a key Senate Republican aide. Many White House insiders, however, said the Post story and reports that the investigation was coming to a close had officials instead more focused on who would be dragged into the affair and if top aides would be indicted and forced to resign.

The moment I heard that Negraponte had been demoted by Bush to the State Department, I wondered if this was a move to elevate Rice to the Vice Presidency. But the more I thought about it, the less it seemed wise for Cheney to abandon the immunity protection he has as VP and how vunerable he would be in civil courts, etc. The only way we could reach him would be via impeachment.

In moments of dreamworld, I think about the result of impeaching both Bush and Cheney. Then Nancy Pelosi would be the first woman President.

Sigh---sorry Hillary Clinton.

The Republican Party will not nominate a black person, let along a black woman, for President. The party goes out of it's way to appeal to people who feel that blacks "have been given too much" and who aren't too crazy about Martin Luther King and such.

However, the Republicans will talk about Condoleeza Rice having a chance for the nomination as much as possible, partly to woo whites who like some things the Republicans have to offer but who would be put off by racism, and partly to help the Dems nominate Barack Obama whom they feel they can defeat by using hints and code words for racism.

Not just any black person for sure, but Condi isn't just any black person. Now Al Sharpless, you're right, no way would any thinking person vote for him. i have often wondered why it is dems only attract that kind of blacks.

I'm guessing a matchup bewteen Condi and Pelosi would center on wardrobes, Italian shoes and Rachmaninoff (monotonous in texture ... consisting mainly of artificial and gushing tunes) Condi don't play that boogie woogie music.

The Republican Party gets about 10% of the black vote.

So spare us your gobbledygook about what you think are different kinds of blacks which go Democratic or Republican, as the Democrats clearly attract virtually all kinds of blacks, as well quite a few kinds of whites, hispanics, asians and native americans.

Not me.

I often wonder why it is the Reps attract the kind of people they attract.

Some of the scum of the earth are firmly ensconced in that party.

And lets not kid ourselves-the Republican Party goes through a great deal of effort to send the message that if you think blacks have gotten "too much", you should vote Republican.

If this were to happen at least Bush would have fact that he had the first black and first woman vice president as a positive note in the history books along with his other rather dubious achievements.

You sure got that one right, Frank.

The Republican Party knew it was getting it's head handed to it on Election Night as soon as they heard the voters telling the exit pollsters that "corruption" was one of the big issues which decided their vote. This is what caused the Republicans to be swept from power.

So what happens shortly after? LSM tries to talk about what kind of black would be attracted to the Democratic Party.

Talk about a disconnect from reality. Hey LSM, the voters just sent a message about what they think of the kind of people which get attracted to the Republican Party.

& look at the 10% that do vote conservative, then look at the remainder that votes for the give away crowd. Liberals like to keep people on the plantation.
Then there's this, the black population is about 12-15%, of that I'd say that maybe 5% (an inflated figure, IMO) vote, so, what do you have? Not much.
A few kinds of whites, yes, the ignorant & uneducated. You'll be able to count ex-cons in that figure if some dems get their way.
Asians I've never seen any figures on that.
Native Americans, most certainly the casino operators & those they can buy.
However, dems do get 100% of dead people that vote.

Now this is just the sort of country club snotnose crap that lost you the last election, and is very likely to lose you the next election.

Say hey, why don't you look down on the entire population of America while you're at it?

Meanwhile, call in to your talk shows and post in all your message boards about Democratic elites, while trying to keep from smirking so hard you fall off the chair.

Got some bad news for you: The country is onto you. And they're damn sick of you too.

Got to hand it to you, you had a good thing going there for awhile. Fill the AM Radio dial with angry sounding guys who find wedge issues that push people's angry button, and keep at it 24 hours a day. Pretty soon you develop a whole bunch of acolytes who are convinced their talk radio host knows so very much, that if only the country could follow what Rush and Savage and Hannity find so very easy to understand, we'd have it knoocked.

So a few years after you take over the radio dial, you take over the Congress. Then when you get a President who knows what he is doing, you holler that he had nothing to do with the peace and prosperity we enjoyed. You put up a vapid charlatan who mouths some nonsense about bringing people together and he slides in by the skin of his chad.

When the roof caves in on the economy shortly after the charlatan takes office the AM radio jocks scream it was all Clinton's fault-and in fact people believe it a little bit. Then when the fly the planes into the World Trade Center, you conservatiuves convince everyone that we have to rally round our President and support him in whatever he does. When he tells us we have to invade Iraq because Saddam Hussein is a bad man and we have to get his WMD's, the country believes him. Then when we find there were no WMD's we are told it didn't make a difference because he planned to build them. Then when the country starts shooting at our soldiers we are told they are evil insurgents and terrorists who have the rest of the American loving Iraqis intimidated, but we will show the Iraqis how to build a police force and military to protect themselves and fight the terrorists. And we do this because that is what white hats like us do.

So three years later the Iraqis are shooting at more Americans than ever before, the Iraqi force we were building is corrupt and can't be trusted to engage the enemy, the insurgents are stronger than ever, the most powerful leaders in Iraq are getting buddy buddy with Iran, and absolutely nobody really thinks Bush is doing anything over there except making it up as he goes along, day by day, week by week.

Plans? Bush ran out of plans a year ago.

The economy? The less said about THAT the better.

People are sick of it. They are sick of a war that has a different justification every few months, sick of being told that there are just a few insurgents that we have to clean up, sick of hearing excuse after excuse while the Republican supporters try to find wedge isues to get people all worked up about most everything except the things which affect their lives the most, the things they should be caring about.

Your time is just about up. Nobody believes what the conservatives have to say, nobody believes your dismantling of Social Security is going to benefit anyone but the wealthy and nobody believes that the conservatives know how to run a country.

So by all means, tell us about what kind of black is attracted to the Democratic Party, sneer at us about how you are going to enjoy dismantling the New Deal which served this country so well and amuse yourself telling us what small percentage of the public you think are worthwhile human beings.

Pride goeth before the fall, and you folks are carrying around a ton of it.

Well said KW.

Every now and then I see someone with an American flag bumper sticker with the words 'the power of pride' written on it, and I can only shake my head as I reflect on the power of Humility and the foolishness of pride.
