Any Chance of A Real Conservative Still Existing?

Sputth, sputh, what you talkin' 'bout?

It is the oddest thing to me to see how far conservatism has drifted from what is was pre-Reagan pre-Newt and how little regard there is amongst today's Republicans for the idea of social responsiblity. I know there is a strong movement amongst some of the GOP of late to provide more aid and influence events in Africa, in particular Darfur, but they are well behind the rest of humanity in this regard, meanwhile they seem to be completely flummoxed by the notion that there might be some things to be done for the least of their brethren here at home.
