Beautiful impala and fawn, Boidie.

I just figured out how to get email updates on MagnumBlog, so I'm cheered, and on there today is a link to a series of photos by Alec Soth, from his book, Dog Days Bogata' (not entirely about dogs).

Here's one -

Reg, A most wonderful and benevolent ladybug. Love dem ladybugs.

osso, Thanks for the link. I'm daunted. It looks complicated. Love the photo. I WANT that shaggy dog. But then again, is there a dog I don't want? Haven't met one yet.

Thanks, jes. What a face. I want that too. But then the thought of a lemur (hyperactive as they seem) bouncing off the walls of my apartment is probably not a good idea. (Talking myself out of it.)

Roberta, you might like this better (it is tied in with Magnum); you can look at today's slide show, or go to the lower right side and pick another day...
you can go back a long way with that little "previous day" thingy.

I'll have to save it for another day, osso. My computer is misbehaving. Don't want to attempt anything fancy--like clicking on a link.

I'm impressed as hell, mesquite. Outstanding photo. Like the grasshopper.

Pompeii worms. These animals live near volcanic vents in the ocean floor. They're more heat-tolerant than any other animals on the planet.

Thanks Region and Roberta. The grasshopper was very cooperative subject. It just flew into the yard, landed on the cactus and stayed put long enough for me to run inside, get the camera and snap a few. This little hummer though is another story altogether.

I think this is an Anna's Hummingbird. Both the reds and greens have an iridescent quality that is very dependent upon light angles. The bottom three pictures are all the same bird taken just a few minutes apart. The one at the feeder was taken on a different day, but is most likely the same bird as they are very territorial.

osso, Glad you like the skunk. They're wonderful-looking animals. Too bad they can create a major stink.

shewolf, Dem gouldian finches are spectacular. Thanks for posting that little stunner.

caribou, Thanks for the additional birds. Parrots are near and dear to my heart, and they are beautiful. Don't know if I'll ever be able to see a photo of a bald eagle and not think of Timber. They are magnificent birds.

Mesquite, More wonderful backyard photos. Hummingbirds are like little jewels, especially when the light hits them at the right angle. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, gus, the duck has seen better days. (Gigantic sigh.)

Please be a good boy. Go out to the swamp, play with the capybaras, and stop sending weird stuff to this thread.

(Another gigantic sigh.)
