Beautiful moths, Ros.... And of course your dog. I thought of your dog just a little while ago. I walked to porter square and passed a car in which a fiesty little white dog (a smaller version of your eskie - maybe 15-20 lbs) was sitting in a car. The car was parked in the sun and I figured he was alright for a bit. But, when I came back 2 hours later, he was still there. The car was in shade and he was looking very sedate. I called my sister's house (we've 'saved' many animals together), then the cops. I hope the little guy is ok. I hope his stoopidass owner doesn't lose him.
Thanks, Jes, for the historic photo of Turcotte looking back. He was probably just a little surprised to see how far back the rest of the field was. Also thanks for the buckskin and grulla. (Learned a new word--grulla.)
dj, Love the photos of the donkeys and the alpaca. I think that without all the wool an alpaca probably more closely resembles a llama than a sheep.
rosborne, Thanks for the pix of the moths. I especially like the pink furry one. Is that Alaskan sled dog yours? One of them resides in my building. He's a beauty.
littlek, people can be thoughtless. I hope the little guy was ok too.
You're welcome. I love, love, love the photo of Turcotte, it's one of my fave sports photos of all time. And grulla -- can't recall where I learned the word or when but it's a good challenge word for Scrabble.
It's making me a little crazy not knowing what happened to the dog-in-the-car.
It would have been legal for you to break the window, k.
If I go back now and the dog is there, I might. I called the cops, they have the guy's license number and car make - they SAID they'd send someone over to check it out.
This time of the year, with these temperatures, there will be no problem.
I thought you were talking about a hot summer day.
It was 22ºF out - and dropping. No problem?
I was in a bookstore in E'ka with Pacco in the car in his crate and four windows opened an inch or more on a day in the high fifties, early sixties - had been in there fifteeen minutes and someone came in the bookstore looking for the horrid owner of the car. A little perspective..
not talking about you, LittleK, that would worry me too.
California has some legislation in process on this subject.
What breed was the dog? Given air, a husky with its serious coat would be ok, no? A mere slip of a thing, I'd be concerned.
In the situation you posted, I would have had no problem, Osso. If it were a malamute/huskey/eskie/etc it would have been less worrisome. I don't know the breed of the dog I saw. It was a wee one - like I said, less than 20 lbs. It's coat was substantial, but not the fluffy coat of a snow-dog.
It looked a lot like Rosborne's dog, but smaller and brown-nosed.
I don't suppose you could call and ask?
meaning, if you asked, would they tell you..
If it were the MSPCA or the animal rescue people, maybe. I wonder if I can get a line direct to the animal rescue desk.... hmmm....
er.
Perhaps we are derailing the thread a little too much, eh?
