littlek, Sneak into her room late at night and sneak out with the book. Then scan the photos and post them here. Either that or you could ask her.
dadpad wrote:roberta we have a legendary race horse here also affectionatly named Big Red.
"Pharlap" was (supposedly) murdered by American racing syndicates on his one visit to the U.S.
Heard about Pharlap. Didn't know his nickname was Big Red. Phooey on the equinicide. Makes me sick.

If I knew how to post pics I would post some of my horses. I have Thoroughbreds and Quarter horses. I have a new mare that is by Affirmed. Wonderfull race horse.
horsefarm: Good grief, you're a fast learner. It took days and dozens of people to teach me how to post photos here. I'm impressed. Also, thanks for the stunning photos. Affirmed is a beauty. And the stallion? That's not a good picture of him? Can't imagine what a good picture would look like. Wonder what it feels like to ride such an animal.
Diane wrote:Oh my gosh, horsefarm, those pics are so stunning. I don't think there is an animal that can surpass the beauty of a horse, although a few come close. What I love most, I think, it when they are running. My uncle had horses on his ranch in Colorado. I will never forget watching his Arabian stallion leading the mares in a race across the range. True poetry in motion.
Roberta, I just found your thread and haven't gone all the way through. For now, though, I am posting a pic of a Florida panther. They are terribly endangered because of the assinine developers filling in so much of the Everglades. The faces of mountain lions and the Fla. panther are, to me, the most beautiful of the big cats.
Hi Diane, Glad you showed up.
Love watching horses move--and hearing the noises they make. There's a photo of an Arabian on page 2 (at least I think it's page 2).
I almost agree with you about the face of the panther/cougar/puma/mountain lion. And then I see a leopard or a lynx or a jaguar and have a change of heart.
I'm not 100 percent certain but I believe that the pure species of Florida panther is no more. Wildlife biologists had to import their cousins from out west to keep the species going. I believe now there are only hybrids. I could be wrong.

And horsefarm's stallion is one beefboy, tell us more, horse farm....
One of these days when I rig up my scanner, I show some pics of my buspartner and her dressage horse... seventeen hands full of trouble.
Seventeen hands? Wow, that's a lot of trouble.
