A peacock - and thanks to FBM, my new (my first!) real avatar!

@vonny,
FBM, You crazy bug lover you. The photo is wonderful. Not cropped too close.

Barry, An exquisite pic. Wow! Major doozy. Thanks, London.

vonny, Congrats on the stunning avatar. I have a painting in my living room of two white peacocks on a grapevine. There are some sites that consider white peacocks to be the most beautiful animal in the world. Don't know if I agree, but they're certainly way up there.

@vonny,
vonny, love your new avatar.

I don't recall ever seeing a white peacock before--that is one stunning and majestically elegant bird. Thanks for the photo.

@Barry The Mod,
Is that a wood floor or a stamped concrete floor made to look like wood?

Urine would be a problem for the former.

Either way, don't get excited on that floor, big boy.

@JTT,
Old stables -

The floors were cobbled, and later of brick, with drainage channels laid across.

@vonny,
Thanks for the info, Vonny. They must have been/must be hosed down at least daily.

@vonny,
It's funny what animals can learn. For many of the dogs I know that deer would be toast or in the ensuing struggle, the dog might be.

@JTT,
True - but it's good to see that animals can overcome differences in species and unite in friendship. A bit like people!

So true, Vonny, when the hand of friendship is actually, and honestly presented. In the case to which I believe you refer, [correct me if I'm wrong] that has never happened.

@vonny,
It is important that they are well fed. Funny who becomes friends when this happens!

@vonny,
vonny, There was a show on Nat Geo about the dog and the deer and the dog and the donkey. The deer was an orphan and was raised by the dog. Even though the deer returned to the wild, she always came back to visit the dog. She even brought her two newborn fawns.

The dog's owner was visiting some rural place. The dog found the donkey in a corral and befriended him. At first it was rough going, but the dog eventually won over the donkey. When the dog left, the owner of the donkey had to get him a friend. He was pining away and wouldn't eat.

Yes, yes, I remember that, the fawn needed a mother, we all do actually Wink Thanks for reminding me Roberta and thanks for bringing it up vonny!
