You nailed the situation perfectly. There is a group of old grannies who hang out on the shady side of the lawn in the afternoons. The asked me, basically, 'What the hell are you doing?' I explained and they got distracted by the fact that I can speak Korean, so now I have a free pass to do pretty much whatever I like.
