@Roberta,
Wow - If that didn't have the nat geo logo I'd say it was shooped - I never thought they could do that - still not completely convinced - off to do some research. But I think I'd vote for a low gravity constitutional amendment so I could see these guys flying more.

@hingehead,
OK, I'm convinced. Freaky.

I liked one story that said that their theory of why Manta's breach is 'because they can!'

@hingehead,
I knew mantas could breach. How did I know? I don't know. Must have seen it somewhere. Maybe when I was looking for pictures here. Spectacular sight to see. And I agree--I think they do it because they can. Porque no? Thanks for the video.

I have just seen this story about some gorillas that have learned how to dismantle poachers' traps. I could think of no better thread to place the link.

@snood,
edgar, Such ferocious beasts. And such beauties. Thanks mucho, kid. I'm glad you decided to post the gorilla story here. I enjoyed reading it. Go gorillas!

HH, The primate is thudworthy. Wish I knew what it is. I recognize the boid. A puffin. Thanks for both.

snood, I guess my having a white lion in the Big Apple is out of the question. Those cubs are wonderful. So is the seal. Never saw an albino seal before. Live and loin.

A black fawn (very, very rare):

Polar bears, brown bears interbred during warm periods. Is it happening again?

Polar and brown bears diverged between 4 million and 5 million years ago, but they continued to interbreed when the climate warmed. Now, there is evidence that it is happening again.

@tsarstepan,
tsar, Thanks for the ursine info. If polar bears move onto land, I assume that their chances for survival would improve. Of course if they're interbreeding, they may survive as something not quite polar.

@Barry The Mod,
Barry, Close to plotzing from that thoroughly gawgeous dawg. Glad it will be out looking for poachers. There are far too few rhinos left in the world. Love dem rhinos.
