Yeah, sorry for being nosy - of course you don't need to share any of that here, Arella.
Hope you're okay, and good to 'see' you.

@FBM,
Gorgeous hawk photo, absolutely terrific.

Nah, don't worry about posting spiders' photos, on my account anyway. At least they're not crawling up my sink.

@Ceili,
I wonder how long Marina Cano had to wait for that pic. Or was it simply serendipity.

What do you beautiful animal people figure is a decent diet to raise a sparrow chick to an age where she/he will fly off into the heavens? I found it under my truck.

@JTT,
You could look up a thread on a similar situation by shewolf. I don't remember the title.

A happy looking arachnid....
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/To%20Forward/spider-guarding-eggs-683251-sw.jpg

Found only on the islands of Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Hawaii, the happy face spider, such as this one guarding its eggs on a leaf in Maui, is known for the unique patterns that decorate its pale abdomen. Scientists believe Theridion grallator may have developed its distinctive markings to discourage birds from eating it.

@ossobuco,
Or I could ask the experts, Osso.

I thought you had me on ignore. How come you thought I was joined in with Oralboy bad mouthing you? How would you know anything about that if you had me on ignore.

For the record, I defended you [and Izzy] against Oralboy.

@JTT,
Generally at this time of year, Momma kicks the little ones out and comes back to check on them - it forces them to learn to fly, but I would have picked it up too, had I found it on the road.
If he's hurt or scraped up a bit, you can use a wee bit of anti-bacterial cream like polysporin.
Get an eyedropper. Tweety will need water. They can get dehydrated quickly.
Dig up and mince some earthworms, find some bugs, like spiders (you're not superstitious are you)?. Slugs are great, if you're not squeamish, that is...Moisten cat or dog food and make it into a paste or buy baby food, they need a high protein diet -. you might also try frozen worms, little red ones - fish food.. can't remember the name, but thaw them out first and crush it up a bit.
Feed it with a chopstick or your finger. Make sure to get the food into it's beak gently.
Finally, talk, sing and whistle to the poor thing. And if you haven't got the time, call the local bird sanctuary. They can probably take him off your hands. or at the very least give you better advice..

Oh yeah, wash your hands a lot.
