@ossobuco,
Speaking of cats...these kittens have an extra 18 toes between them! From today's UK Telegraph...

@Irishk,
Oh! too cute. I wonder if those paws are more useful or more troublesome for them.

@ossobuco,
My late lamented Mikey had six extra toes. One extra on each front foot and two extra on each back foot.

The extra toes on the back feet didn't seem to make any difference. However, on more than one occasion, I saw him using his extra toe on his front feet as a kind of thumb--for holding small objects.

@Roberta,
Ahhhhh, reminiscing about the book, "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. Enzo, the dog, wished he had thumbs. . .

@hingehead,
So I'm out of the house for the first time in weeks, and what happens? I'm overwhelmed with gorgeousity. I should go out more often.

Barry, That is one helluva picture. Thanks, mucho.

HH, The scallop is beautiful. Are you sure those are eyes and not jewels. Spectacular, kid. The squid is beyond belief. That's real animal? Gawgeous. The little deer is dear. Thanks muchisimo.

@hingehead,
Sigh. Some pipples is mighty pushy.

OK. For the person who wins, I will post a photo of a beautiful animal. How's that for novelty--and motivation.?

@Roberta,
This is the smallest vertebrate known to-date: an adult frog in Papua New Guinea. Gives new meaning to the expression "turning on a dime":

@djjd62,
The first otter reminds me somehow of Theodore Roosevelt. How's that for anthropomorphizing?

American volunteer Torrey Utne of Boston, feeds a seal at the Pieterburen seal creche, north of the town of Groningen, northern Netherlands. Storms that have lashed the Dutch coast this year have created a wave of orphaned baby seals. An existing Pieterburen seal rehabilitation and research center (SRRC) near the northern city of Groningen has been so inundated with pups and older seals in recent weeks it has erected a temporary tent to house them while they are nurtured back to health before being returned to the wild.
