Hi, Joe. The squirrel in question is listed as coming from Africa. To be specific, the Kirela Reserve. I believe it's a grizzled giant squirrel, but the coloring seems "unusual" to me. Maybe it's just "off" in the reproduction. Dunno.
I almost posted 'whaaaaaaaat' and then remembered how little I know.
Yeh, flimmy.
There are some amazing birds in Australia.

that marmoset has a surprisingly thoughtful expression...
It does look pensive, doesn't it?
I'm tired. Thought I'd take the easy route and get another sea slug. I'm looking around. I find several photos of them that take me back to this thread. Managed to find a new one, I think.
Rose sea star:
That squirrel Roberta looks like it was playing in paint. I laughed so hard when I saw that picture

Thanks for the snaggle tooth, TTH. And glad you got a laugh from the squirrel. My mistake. I shouldn't have posted something that looked so goofy.

In honor of some Canadians I met recently, here are a couple of animals from Canada:
Canada lynx:
Canadian wolf:
Roberta those are gorgeous pictures. I have been practicing with my camera so hopefully I can get some photos of the wildlife where I live.
I am still chuckling over that squirrel. I am glad you posted it.

A cat that has no home so it lives in my backyard (3 years now)
He won't leave so I feel he is wild. I feel sorry for him
The ferrets are great, TTH. And the cat is a beauty. Sounds like you've got an outdoor border.

I think this is a meerkat:
You don't have to go to Canada to find Canadian wolves, Roberta! Those are the ones that our government, in its infinite wisdom, bought from the Canadians and turned loose in central Idaho twelve years ago. They are now overrunning the country, destroying the big game population, and breaking ranchers. A single wolf was documented last month as killing eighteen calves in two days. We only wish they were in Canada.
cowdoc, I'm sorry to hear about this. I have some views on transplanting animals from their native habitats--most of them not positive. But I'd prefer that such a discussion take place on another thread. I apologize if I seem unresponsive or unsympathetic. I'd simply like to keep this thread about beautiful animals, just that.
Am I being a pain in the ass? Wouldn't surprise me.
Brazilain rainbow boa:
Rainbow gecko:
Understood, Roberta. It's just that those of us who have seen the troubles caused by the wolves out here have gotten a little sensitive about it over the course of the past twelve years.
