Those bee eaters are spectacular. The flycatcher is gorgeous too. Thanks Caribou and Rosborne.

Wande, Now you've gone and done it. It happens once in a while. Someone posts a photo, and my first reaction is I WANT THAT! I'll control myself. Not much room in my apartment for a bear. Love the photo. Thanks.

Thanks for the smiling whale, TTh.

Osso, WAAAAAAH. I want Paul. I'll get a grip. Gimme a minute. Thanks for posting that, kiddo. Love it.

I'm still in Madagascar, pictorially speaking.

Thanks for the macaroni, TTH. What, no cheese?

I spent a considerable amount of time looking for and finding two fairly exotic animals from far-off places. I posted them both. They turned up here as ads. This never happened before. What happened? Dunno.

I'm returning to old standbys.

Thanks for the link, Wilso. I don't get video all that well on my computer, but I did see a beautiful parrot in a very green lush tree moving around. Smiling.

I don't know if this has been covered here already, because I haven't really looked in on this topic before, but I came upon something you might like, from a completely different direction. There's an orchestra in Thailand made up entirely of elephants, who play instruments made especially for them, which I found really moving. Someone described it as kind of a spacy gamelan. It's been called the first interspecies music.

Here's a link to a National Geographic special on Thai elephants and their precarious position in modern Thai culture. Click on the titles to hear mp3s of a couple of their songs
