@Arella Mae,
osso, Nice ovine.

High Seas, Loving this. Glad I'm not a traveler trying to get somewhere, but I love it. Go toitles.

dj, That bunny musta slept funny. Look at its hair. I LOVE that otter. Sharp looking beastie.

Irish, Heart failure. I felt some kinda weird scared when I saw that cat pic. Thinking about a thud. The elk-marmot dethuddified me. Who knew one species would rescue another just because. Smiling. The tufted duck's tuft is -----(fill in the blank and say it fast three times).

Arella Mae, Definitely a thudder. You'd think by now I'd be used to it. Nope. Not yet.

Morning New York....
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/To%20Forward/article-2009436-0CC862A200000578-48.jpg

This little damselfly thought it was cleverly hiding behind a blade of grass at a British lake, but didn’t realise its big bug eyes gave away its disguise.

The tiny insect concealed its two-inch body and transparent wings by clinging onto the grass with its black legs.

But instead of being incognito, photographer Tony Flashman captured the common blue damselfly’s piercing eyes with his camera at Fordwich Lakes, near Kent.

Here's a side view....

Damselflies are similar to dragonflies but the adults differ by holding their wings long and parallel to the body when resting.

They are also usually smaller and weaker fliers than dragonflies and their eyes are wide apart – as seen poking out from behind this blade of grass.

Damselflies eat flies, mosquitoes and other small insects

@Barry The Mod,
Lovely little things, those damselflies. And a great picture, Barry. Thanks.

Here's a dragonfly, by way of contrast:

@Roberta,
The tufted duck's tuft is ruffled.
The tufted duck's tuft is rough.
The tufted duck trips turks on turf.
The tufted duck tucks trucks.
Oh, never mind.

What's really funny is the FAA recordings of pilot communications about turtles shutting down the runways on one of the busiest travel times of the year; here's a sample: Pilot # 1 "Lots more turtles storming runway 4L", pilot # 2 "Can you really use the term "storming" when discussing turtles?" More hilarious dialogues with turtle videos becoming major hits on YouTube. Nobody has complained about turtle-induced delays - it's a miracle around here!

It is amazing what technology can do. I was watching this video about this dog with prosthetic legs and then the lady asks about if they have them for cats. They showed a cat with one of the legs and I burst into tears. That cat looks just like my Sugar Baby Bear that died a few years back. She had gotten outside and something had attacked her and lost a leg. I can't believe I started crying! Here's the video:

@Diane,
High Seas, I listenend and laughed on youtube. "There's another turtle."

Arella Mae, They can do amazing things for animals and people. And I'm glad they're doing it.

As I live and breathe (more or less), it's Diane! That's one helluva boid head, kid. Very impressive. Beautiful. Thanks.

I truly love this turtle/JFK Airport story. Throwing in another pic of a reptile on the runway.

re bunny behind bars, the original version of "Columbus Stockade Blues", before it got anthropomorhized

Way Down in Columbus, Georgia,
I want to go back to Tennessee,
Way down in Columbus Stockade
Friends all turn their backs on poor bun-nee.
CHORUS
Go and leave me if you wish to,
Never let the rabbit cross your mind.
If in your heart you love another,
Go and leave me, darlin' I don;t mind.

Last night as I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you in my arms,
When I awoke, I was mistaken,
Long ears still behind the bars.

CHORUS

Naturally humans have just recorded the human version. They think everything's about them.

@Roberta,
Funny how unfrog like that frogfish appears to be. Poor thing seems a tad delusional to me. Wink

A photo slideshow of great underwater life:
Quote:
An Ocean Full Of ‘Sex, Drugs And Sea Slime’
In her latest book Sex, Drugs, And Sea Slime: The Oceans’ Oddest Creatures and Why They Matter marine scientist Ellen Prager describes the natural history of some of the oceans’ more interesting creatures, including "fried egg" nudibranchs and bone eating zombie worms.

@MontereyJack,
Jimmie Davis was born not far from from where I live. I never hear much about him though.
