'What are those pasty furless things, Mom? On its first day outside at the Zoo in Rhenen, Netherlands, a baby polar bear stares back at a crowd of the curious.'

@ossobuco,
I didn't see your post until after I posted that. They look a bit different to me. Maybe it's just the angle of the face but what a beautiful cat!

@hingehead,
Thanks you guys for making Presidents Day special on this thread. Lots of pets peeing on the White House lawn. Does my heart good.

Francis, The last heart/cat you posted was two cats making one heart. This one comes already assembled. Lovely indeed. Merci.

Irish, Dem baby badgers are too much. I love seeing the beginnings of badger coloring on them. Vunderbar. Parrots are mighty smart and clever boids. Didn't know they were athletes too. Thanks for the roller skating parrot.

osso, Are baby bears that articulate? I believe that would be what he was saying if he was saying anything. Tres cute. Love the splashy duck too. The white egret amidst the red flowers is beautiful. Thanks, kid.

dj, Four bunnies! There's only so much a goil can take. Love that otter, too. Alert and sharp looking.

reg, What a magnificent feline. Gorgeous. Thanks, kid.

hingehead, The species is the same, but the purpose of the post is different. The first jagarundi was posted as cross-eyed animal in competition with Heidi the possum for cross-eyed honors. Heidi won. Reg's jagarundi, I assume, was posted because it's a beautiful animal, and this is the beautiful animals thread.

Write your own caption for this one:

For those of you without access to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), this is an url to The Nature of Things with David Suzuki. This Thursday (listen up, djjd) the documentary is about raccoons (and some of them live in my neighbourhood). There are lots of shows featuring animals. (I missed "The Prairie Bandit" -- going to watch that.)

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01831/goldfinches_1831908i.jpg
Two goldfinches have a mid-air fight after struggling to get enough space on a bird feeder in a British back garden. Photographer Laurie Campbell snapped away from a hide in his garden for 30 hours to get a picture he was happy with. Laurie, from Berwick-on-Tweed, Northumberland, said: "It can take weeks for the goldfinches to find this bait but once they do, they are hooked."
