@Irishk,
Back in my last art gallery, we had a fellow come in to show his art work. He is very talented, is from Mongolia but living in the US, and we tried to book a one man show for him. He then sort of disappeared, oh well, but I still wish much good fortune to him. Luckily, we both bought some of his ink on rice paper drawings, which is saying a lot since we ran close to the bone on money virtually all the time. My point, a lot of those drawings featured mongolian wild horses.. ahhhhhh.

@ossobuco,
I'm glad everyone enjoyed the Mongolian horses as much as I did. I actually mistook a couple of his photographs for paintings. It impressed me that a man of his age would brave the harsh winter of that area in order to get those fabulous shots, but I think we're all happy that he did. I think I read that he's an artist as well as a photographer.

A one day old Asian elephant female calf stands between two elephants in her enclosure at Chester Zoo. The unnamed calf is the second baby elephant born at the zoo in the past six months.

@Roberta,
Dwarf mongooses? Seems kind of an oxymoron. Like dwarf squirrel! Hugs or wrestles?

Hingehead, Dward mongooses are about squirrel size. Regular mongooses are about the size of an average domestic cat.

Firefly, Wonderful primate pics. Thanks.

BTW, the boid is looking at itself in a car side mirror. The giraffe is just too damned high up to get a drink easily. Drinking is when giraffes are most vulnerable to predators.

Catching up a bit... love the orangutan baby and the horses and pretty much every B&O pairing (but especially the sleepy otter baby).

The two Cheetah cubs born at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in December received their first vaccinations yesterday. At about 8 weeks and 6 weeks old, both cubs appear to be healthy.

dj, Dem B&Os continue to satisfy. Just exactly how many cute bunnies and wonderful otters are there?

Arella Mae, Gotta admit that the upright gorilla freaks me out a bit. There's something wrong there. Don't know whether it's physical or mental. Interesting though. That's for sure.

Soz, The cheetah cubs have touched the cockles of my heart. Beautiful, adorable. Thanks mucho. BTW, notice that the cheetah's claws are not retractable. In their evolutionary development, they sacrificed another weapon for speed. You can't have it all.

Another btw. Wild dogs have among the highest hunt-kill ratios of any of the predators in Africa. Tres impressive.
