@Roberta,
With the mac, I could see the photo by clicking on the blue x (red for pcs, I think) and holding down control and then See image in new window. There's a trick like that with pc's, involving clicking on Properties and then maybe See image in new window, but I haven't used a pc for five years and now forget.

Roberta, I used to do the NYTimes and LA Times Sunday puzzles, but don't get those papers now other than online, and last time I checked, it cost moolah to get the puzzles. I tried some other puzzle sites, and find them unwieldy. So, no nenes, nay.

Considered by many to be the third fastest land animal, here's the lion (50 mph):

A three-week-old Florida panther kitten in the Picayune Strand State Forest is seen here in this July 2009 photo. Fifteen years ago, Florida imported some wild panthers from Texas as fresh blood for the dwindling Florida cats. Now scientists have created an astonishingly in-depth family tree of today's Florida panthers, boosting the population.

The peculiar dinosaurs of Laramidia: weird horns and more
The discovery of two new dinosaur species in the American West – which, 76 million years ago, was part of a continent called Laramidia – has scientists thinking about odd horns and why certain species didn't appear to spread out across all Laramidia.

Rosborne, Those are some fancy shmancy guppies. Really beautiful. Thanks.

tsar, Knew that the Florida cougars were introduced to some of the western variety. Didn't know they were doing well. Glad to hear it. And the baby is a beauty.

Read about the newly found dinosaurs. Who knows what we'll never know. Of course, if we never know, then nobody knows.

Another of the fastest land animals--the quarter horse:

I rode along a beach in Mexico. Not a racer, but that quarter horse was fine by me.

One more speedy beastie (I'm obsessed). Wildebeest:

@Barry The Mod,
I may not necessarily know very much about tiger physiology but this poor timid tiger looks a tad too big boned for his own good. He truly needs this jungle gym and his exercise regimen.

Get him back into man hunting/eating shape!

I want so much to ride a horse on the beach. Seeing those pictures just puts more of a longing in me to do it. I may have to trailer up Big Mac and head to the gulf one of these days.

Such beautiful pictures of such beautiful animals.

tsar, If the story hadn't specifically referred to that animal as a tiger, I would thought it was a tigon. Right build and size.

Tigers don't exactly wander around looking for humans to munch on. You said that just to piss me off, didn't you?

Arella Mae, As much as I loved riding on the beach, my absolutely favorite place to ride was mountain trails, through the woods. I always felt transported doing this. The sound of the horse's hoofs. The quiet of the woods. Smiling as I remember.
