@Arella Mae,
Poor penguins seem kind of envious of the butterfly's ability to fly and were also disappointed when he finally flew off.

@tsarstepan,
Didn't they though? They seemed really happy while they were chasing him. It's amazing the feelings animals have.

@tsarstepan,
How do you know the butterfly wasn't broken hearted at not being able to swim?

I'm inclined to think that the penguins were happy to have a diversion. I'm also inclined to think that the butterfly was looking for a flower.

@Roberta,
You come around here with your perfectly formed reasoning and understanding of butterfly dreams. Rolling Eyes Can't we just have our penguin dreams? Surprised

You're likely correct on the second part. Living in the zoo must be a life of cozy security but dreadfully boring.

Interesting video - very cute. And just as apt on the odd animal behavior thread.

My mother knows a guy who catalogs threatened local turtles called diamondbacks. He collects the hatchlings at the nest site, brings them home, measures and catalogs them, then releases them asap. These hatched yesterday (some still have their egg-tooth) and will be released tomorrow. There were 12 in this nest and he'd collected several nest-worths.

@littlek,
So they get to be a pretty good sized turtle. Cool! I see turtles all the time here. Seems they are all going somewhere because they are always in the road. LOL

@littlek,
littlek, What little cuties. I don't think I've ever seen turtles with these markings. I'm rooting for the little guys. Wonderful.

tsar, Sorry to dull things up with reason. I won't do it again.

@rosborne979,
Rosborne,

Thanks mucho for the giraffe info. I didn't realize that they were different colors as well as different patterns.

Distressing to see how few of them are left in some places. I'm guessing that their habitat is disappearing.

Sigh.
