@rosborne979,
I was trying to see what's reflected in this spider's eyes, but it's tough to make out. But when you zoom in on the picture you can see circular eyelashes reflected in his eyes and it's almost like looking "out" through his eyes instead of into them. Smile

@rosborne979,
His eyes look like jewels that are surrounded by gold in this picture. It's very intriguing.

I have an ulterior motive for posting this photo. Does anyone know what kind of spider this is? And more to the point, is it dangerous? To give you an idea of the size:

(It's living under the decking around my well...) Pretty though, eh?

@Tai Chi,
It's probably a type of Wolf Spider, and it's probably not dangerous. But it would help if I knew where in the world this pic was taken.

@rosborne979,
That is the first thing I thought of too. We hve HUGE wolf spiders here in Louisiana but they have stripes on them.

I'm leaning toward a relative of Dolomedes Tenebrosus (fishing spider):

Fishing spiders and Wolf Spiders are closely related (similar in appearance), but they all vary slightly depending on geographical location.

My pleasure Tai. Here is what the wolf spiders in Northern Louisiana look like. I saw one that was pretty close to four inches long. They are scary looking but don't bother humans much.

I just went out to feed the horses and when I pulled down a bale of hay this big fellow was there. He stayed long enough for me to come in and get the camera. Like I said, Wolf Spiders get pretty big here in Louisiana.
